Last Oct I asked for help calculating back pressure on my proposed system. Thanks for your help and that of Ted Lea who provided my Gast 0523 pump and XL/2 diffusers. The project actually started last summer as my old leaking pond was enlarged to 1 acre with a max depth of 12 ft down its center. Then 270,000 lbs of Texas Sodium Bentonite was used to create a 12" blanket, then covered with another 12" of dirt compacted by vibrating pad-footed rollers. My Gast pump is 500 ft from the pond in my equipment shed which is about 50 ft higher elevation. Buried 1" poly 100psi pipe runs to a manifold in a box at the pond's edge. Weighted 5/8" line connects the XL/2 diffusers. I mounted the diffusers to 2ft x 2ft plywood then mounted the plywood to worn-out trailer tires to keep the diffusers above the mud. LAST WEEK'S RAIN FINALLY FILLED MY POND! This week I turned the system on and added fish (250 BG, 100 RES, 4# FHM, 4# GS). Pressure at the pump is ~4 psi. Attached are a few pics. Cheers!
Wow 270,000 lbs of Texas Sodium Bentonite now thats some serious bentonite right there! You were not playing around. That's the way to do it! I bet that pond won't leak for a long, long time! Good job man looks great!!
