I have a new pond 660’x90’. The 1st 200’ averages 12’ deep; the middle 300’ averages 10’ and last 160’ slopes from 10’ to 4’. I want to install an aeration system for it but power is 1400’ from the pond. It will be sometime before the power could be extend closer to the pond, so running air is my only option. I’ve played w/ preliminary numbers and was wondering if the combination of a 7.5 cfm rocking piston compressor, 1400’ of 1” poly tube, 4 valve manifold and 3 diffusers would be sufficient? Which compressor is right (type, size, and brand)? Are 3 diffusers enough? 1400’ of 1” poly tube friction would be 2.1 psi? 12’ deep diffuser adds another 6 psi. Number of diffusers does not add to the psi but divides the air volume per diffuser? My pond has been around longer than I’ve been looking at this, so any corrections or suggestions are welcomed.

How many GPM will each of those diffusers lift to the surface at the psi and CFM that you will be able to furnish? Without that info there is no way to answer your question.

" Number of diffusers does not add to the psi but divides the air volume per diffuser?"

Correct. That is the only portion I can answer with any certainty.

Also if diffusers are at different depths, more air will tend to flow to the shallower diffuser unless arrangements are made at the manifold with valving to balance air flow.

I ran 12 (.5-5 cfm) membrane diffusers from a 7.5 CFM compressor placed 800' away. I only used 1/2" plastic tubing and my pressure was never over 8psi. I did change my intake filter to an air filter meant for a 600HP diesel engine though. grin
