Have a 1.25 acre pond. Deepest point about 15 ft. Have a 1HP Gast, with one airstone and one Vertex double fuser hooked up. Another Vertex coming to replace the airstone.
I have 100 ft of 5/8 hose going to the Vertex and 200 ft of hose going to the airstone.
The 1 HP is an energy hog and overkill.
Would like to buy a Brookwood compressor, but am on the fence over which one, 1/3 or 1/2. Was leaning towards the 1/2
Was hoping to get some input.

I would first check the cfm of each 1/3 and 1/2 hp. Since your pond is 1.2 ac I would use the one with the most cfm. Focus or place the aeration diffusers in the areas deeper than 7-8ft.

The 1/2, without checking again, has about 4 cfm's vs. the 1/3 having about 2?
The Vertex diffuser is at 11 ft right now, the airstone is at 8, and the new Vertex diffuser would replace the airstone.
Ted Lea's site is down and I ordered some new hose the day it went down, and just about pulled the trigger on the 1/2 HP at that time. Wish I would have.

Just wanted to thank Ted for responding to my emails. I pulled the trigger on a refurbed 1/2HP Brookwood to go along with 2 Vertex XL2 air stations.
Looking forward to getting it all installed.

Installed the refurbed compressor, Brookwood 106 1/2 HP today. Got a pressure gauge for it. It's running 2 of the Vertex XL2 stations, one with 200 ft of hose and the other with 100 ft of hose.
It's running at 6 PSI, nicely.
When I hooked it up to the line with the airstone on it, the pressure relief valve popped off at 10 PSI, as the hose was filled with water. I then took the airstone off, attached the second XL 2, and the pressure went to 6. With the one XL 2 and the airstone on, the pressure was running about 7 or 8.
The bottom weighted hose is awesome, and can't wait to put it in our other pond. Hope to get 2 more XL 2's for that pond next year.
THANKS TED!
