Gentleman, Ordered Aquamax Grower 500 from my supplier a couple weeks ago. When I get there to pick it up I see it has changed to "Sportfish" this year. Same product # listed but different packaging...or so I thought. I had saw this new packaging in the PB publication but thought it was an added line, not replacing the AM500 & 600 Grower. Went to Purina's website and low and behold there it is, but no 500 or 600 Grower is listed anymore, only the 400. Looking at the fat and protein contents is what had me scratching my head a bit. Didn't the AM500 Grower use to have the same protein and fat contents as the AM400 Grower (45/16)? The new "Sportfish" 500/600 product is listed as 41/12. Pet peeve of mine when suppliers/manufacturers pull this as it's always at the cost benefit to the manufacturer it seems. Same product # but different product contents. Other than the pellet size and sinking/floating issue I view the AM400 grower as a better overall product given the protein/fat contents (at the same price as Sportfish I might add). I more than likely would have went with the AM400 Grower had I known this change had occurred (we're feeding panfish and cats mostly). Can someone confirm this is the case this year or am I loosing my mind (and no this wouldn't be the first time, at least according to be wife)? Thanks for any clarity on this matter, I know it's splitting hairs a bit but it's been bugging me.

The old AM600 was 41/12/4. I have a label from one of the old bags, dated 6/22/2012. To my knowledge, the only change is the packaging, the contents didn't change. 500/600 is the same formula, just a different pellet size.

Amazing Purina Mills can completely change their packaging but still do a lousy job of communicating with their customers. I have honestly never seen a company so terrible at communicating with their customers.
If I could switch to Silver Cup or Zeiglers economically I'd do it in a heartbeat.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Confirming AM 500 & 600 were both 42 protein and 12% fat. AM 400 contains more protein and is a lot smaller pellet size of 3/32"(2.4mm) a small pellet for fish larger than 4"-5".

I got my undies in a bunch over nothing I guess... Thanks for the clarity guys. I didn't realize 400 Grower was different than the 500/600 Grower in years past.

Different formula to give the smaller fish a jump start. Sort of like puppy chow for dogs.
