Don't know if anyone started a mushroom thread this year.. went out Friday before the weather disaster found one grey and one peckerhead.. my season is kinda messed up now with these 2 nights in the low 30's I'm still optimistic though for a couple weeks from now with some good warm air moving in with the damp ground we already have..

Any other pomdbossers reports out there.?

BGK we have moisture finally, and next week is 70s. In 10 days I'll make my first foray into the woods around the Platte River. Still probably a little early, but should find some greys.

Well this thread led me straight to wikipedia... I'm not a huge mushroom guy, but I can eat them. Apparently they are prized little mushrooms.

Oh MAN those look good...I'm hungry for some good yellows. But I'm worried this last round of ridiculously cold weather really put a damper on them. Hoping we get a decent couple of weeks.

We will not see them until June and we only get them in areas that had a fire in the last couple of years. A few will show up without fire but not enough to bother hunting for.

I've hunted mushrooms for a lot of years, but this is by far the latest I have ever gone into the season without finding any. I'm hoping that they are just delayed, but I kind of doubt it, really.

Did find this elephant ear tonight. I left it unmolested.

BGK, I hope you find a bunch, and I get a chance to liberate some from you! My dang eyes blend browns, oranges and greens. I can be standing in a loaded patch and not see the dang things, but I never miss them on my plate!

I'm very bad color blind myself.. I've learned to hunt everything by shape/texture not color.

First two of the season. Hope it's not the last two also. Not impressed with how the woods looks right now.

Too dry here too. Despite the higher than normal snowfall this past winter, the past 30 days has yeilded only slightly less than 50% of the normal rainfall.

Just messing around and seen two crushed ones behind ATV. Figured I better look around. Looking good for Earth Day. Hope to update with a 33 gal trash bag full.

T - those appear to be Greys, and fresh ones at that. Since they precede the Blondes I think you're just now hitting stride. You only need a few good humid evenings in the 50s to get going. Keep at it - headed out for my first recon mission tomorrow. We're easily 5-7 days out yet, but maybe I can get a few Greys.

Good work - those Blondes look very new/fresh. You're just about to hit it bigtime - keep the photos coming and good luck.

That grey on the bottom right is one of the largest I've ever seen. Majority look very fresh too, maybe a few days old. It's amazing how fast they grow when conditions are perfect. I'd say you still have a good 5-7 days of grey hunting followed by blondes for a week or two. I'm headed out this weekend if we get some rain Thursday...it should be prime time.
