I enjoying getting out in the woods/lake/rivers just like anyone else, but sometimes when you got friends/kids with you that are a lil less patient I like swinging in to pay ponds and lakes. Support local bait shops and areas of fishing businesses. Nothing like catching a few fun fighting catfish or sport fish. Then I visit a place like Bigwhiskers and I`m sure there are plenty others like it out there. Where they harvest large trophy sized catfish throw a few hundred or so in a pond not much bigger than a acre and call it fishing. It really puts a bad taste in my mouth, that I could of caught that fish in a river and released it. I mean how long does it take a catfish to obtain 60-100lbs. Looks like it`s going to be a MTV show soon. SMH. Just my thought on the matter. http://www.bigwhiskerscatfishfarm.com/

If what you're saying they do is true, then just chalk it up to the underbelly of society along with about a million other things.
Let's conversely just be glad we can currently own our own ponds/lakes and do with them what we please.

Commercial fishermen clean out most of the bigger catfish from many of our rivers. Just part of the deal when fishing public waters that allow commercial fishing.

Pay to fish died quite some time ago around here.
No interest by people with a few bucks burning a hole in their pocket.
Build a mall, and they will burn their last nickle opening that box from China!
We live in a world of failures, and it's all disposable. Kick out a few more bucks to find out that don't work either.

Travis you need to stop watching 24/7 cable news that reports only bad things as they happen anywhere in the world live or almost live. LOL Myself I used to watch the news in my shop as I worked but have pretty tuned out on it and stick with the History channel, Discovery, Science etc. etc. Use to be a time when there was the plague with no clue how to stop it, your village could be raped, pillaged, burned to the ground at anytime, and most of us were nothing but pheasants. And don't forget starving to death and very short life spans. It's all relative. I'd rather live here now then then.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Hunting season gets kinda rough when you are a pheasant ;-).
I have separated myself from the majority of news, but get on to the blogs on the Weather underground. My gosh, it is full of those guys on the street corners spouting doom and gloom. Bunch of Debbie Downers! Darned near want to jump off a cliff and get it over with after reading those stories.

I don't need to see the news... My line of works forces me to see the best of society whether I want to or not. There are some very bad people in this world. Thankfully, there are some very good ones too... And yes, life today is a cake walk compared to 200 or even 100 years ago.

This sounds sort of along the lines as the high fence 'hunting' experiences that can be bought in a variety of places. And when you harvest your whitetail/muley/elk/etc you pay by the point/mass/width. Basically custom select and shoot your wall hanger...
Not my idea of sportsmanship, but to each his own I guess.

I have separated myself from the majority of news, but get on to the blogs on the Weather underground. My gosh, it is full of those guys on the street corners spouting doom and gloom. Bunch of Debbie Downers! Darned near want to jump off a cliff and get it over with after reading those stories. There's a guy on a political website I frequent that has been predicting a stock market crash right down to the month for a couple of years now. LOL When we call him on it when it doesn't happen he says he never made any such prediction. He also believes every conspiracy theory that comes down the pike. Definitely a screw loose. I've actually told the worst doomsdayers on the site they might as well go back behind the woodshed and pop a round in their head and be over with it. It doesn't go over really well with the moderators.
