Only moderate rain here. There was about 75 migrating geese(they are smaller and darker then the resident ones) on my front pond Sunday. Does anyone know if they can sense a bad storm that far in advance? They seem to come like this every year and hang around till spring.
Two ponds, 13 and 15 acres on the Mattaponi River.

Eleven inches so far. Still coming down.
"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"
If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1) And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1) Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT? PB answer: It depends.

Mark, where do you get all these pics?! Funny stuff.
Yep, I'm gonna say you're right. Pulled my flatbed home from the farm yesterday, and your area got hit the worst. Several cars in ditches on 276.
But, Christmas trees I got! I hit the box stores first thing this morning.

Christmas trees I got! I hit the box stores first thing this morning. I was going to do that this week... it seems like independent X-mas tree lots in Dallas were rare this year did you have better luck at Lowes or Home Depot? Free? You going to attach a cinder-block and sink? Is there an art to this too?

Before I left for the farm yesterday morning, I cruised the hood and founds tree lots and big boxes that still had trees.
I made a few calls right at 6, and hit one Home Depot this AM, and got all I could tote.
I'll do a few with cider blocks, but Eric posted some pics of a different method with a post. That gave me some new ideas, and I'll post those pics after I get back and try it.
No art, just low water right now, so I figured it's the best time to get them out.

Merry Christmas to all !!! Time to revisit the Pond Boss Christmas thread ! In anticipation of some reference to Mr. Scrooge I want to remind us all that it is not how we start life but how we balance out in the end. Dickens reminds us of the power of good and redemption and that Mr. Scrooge turned out well.
Since you brought up Mr. Scrooge I think it important for all of us to please remember how he turned out, as the happiest most fulfilled man in the town, who after the following conservation with Spirit no. 2 ( note the warning); set out below ,personally relieved much IGNORANCE and WANT.
From Dickens :
"Forgive me if I am not justified in what I ask," said Scrooge, looking intently at the Spirit's robe, "but I see something strange, and not belonging to yourself, protruding from your skirts. Is it a foot or a claw?"
"It might be a claw, for the flesh there is upon it," was the Spirit's sorrowful reply. "Look here."
From the foldings of its robe, it brought two children; wretched, abject, frightful, hideous, miserable. They knelt down at its feet, and clung upon the outside of its garment.
"Oh, Man, look here! Look, look, down here!" exclaimed the Ghost.
They were a boy and a girl. Yellow, meagre, ragged, scowling, wolfish; but prostrate, too, in their humility. Where graceful youth should have filled their features out, and touched them with its freshest tints, a stale and shrivelled hand, like that of age, had pinched, and twisted them, and pulled them into shreds. Where angels might have sat enthroned, devils lurked, and glared out menacing. No change, no degradation, no perversion of humanity, in any grade, through all the mysteries of wonderful creation, has monsters half so horrible and dread.
Scrooge started back, appalled. Having them shown to him in this way, he tried to say they were fine children, but the words choked themselves, rather than be parties to a lie of such enormous magnitude.
"Spirit, are they yours?" Scrooge could say no more.
"They are Man's," said the Spirit, looking down upon them. "And they cling to me, appealing from their fathers. This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased. Deny it!" cried the Spirit, stretching out its hand towards the city. "Slander those who tell it ye. Admit it for your factious purposes, and make it worse. And abide the end."
"Have they no refuge or resource?" cried Scrooge.
"Are there no prisons?" said the Spirit, turning on him for the last time with his own words. "Are there no workhouses?"
The bell struck twelve.
------------------------------------------------
In the end the following speaks volumes of what Christmas is about.
Scrooge was better than his word. He did it all, and infinitely more; and to Tiny Tim, who did not die, he was a second father. He became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a man, as the good old city knew, or any other good old city, town, or borough, in the good old world. Some people laughed to see the alteration in him, but he let them laugh, and little heeded them; for he was wise enough to know that nothing ever happened on this globe, for good, at which some people did not have their fill of laughter in the outset; and knowing that such as these would be blind anyway, he thought it quite as well that they should wrinkle up their eyes in grins, as have the malady in less attractive forms. His own heart laughed: and that was quite enough for him.
He had no further intercourse with Spirits, but lived upon the Total Abstinence Principle, ever afterwards; and it was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim observed," GOD BLESS US , EVERY ONE !"

Good morning Dave, I've checked the ships systems, and everything appears to be running normally.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Merry Christmas! 4" of unexpected snow making for a beautiful Christmas eve, and a not so beautiful drive to the relatives for the Christmas Eve shindig.
