I'm sorry if I should have found it somewhere, but I looked and wasn't able to.
I built a pond about 2 years ago. I had a relative with his own excavating company do the work after an engineer did the design. Everything looked good until the pond got to 14' or so. At that point the field below the dam got very wet and at points had quite a bit of water running through it. The pond falls to about 12' at times but never gets above 14'.
My fear is that the core was not dug deep enough at the end. I have lots of pictures of the construction. My relative is available for questions/discussions.
So, I would like to find someone that could consult and/or do the work to repair this.
I am southwest of Kansas City about 50 miles (Paola Kansas). I would travel to meet and/or send information electronically, but I think someone will need to come out and look also.
Thanks for any help you can give me! Brian Stevens

Brian, it may not have been properly compacted. Lots of people just use a dozer for compacting but it doesn't always work. If done correctly, a sheepsfoot roller should be used with packing in about 14 to 16 inch lifts.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Dave,
Thanks for the response. We did have a sheepsfoot roller. As I think back, I'm not sure that it was used quite as often as it should have though.
One thought about where it is leaking though; it isn't leaking right at the bottom of the dam. It is 30-40 feet out. Probably not thinking about it right, but that led me to think that it might be going around the end and down a rock ledge.
My hope was to find someone that would look at what we did and suggest the most likely issues and then the sequence and methods that we should try to resolve them.
Thanks, Brian

30 to 40 ft out sounds like a rocky or sandy area was encountered.
