I would like to introduce myself for anyone with questions regarding Georgia Giant® Hybrid Bream. I'm Jason Holyoak and I own Ken's Fish Hatchery, Inc. in Alapaha,Georgia, and breed the Georgia Giant® Hybrid Bream. Yes I am still growing and selling the fish my father started over 40 years ago. I will be more than happy to answer any questions.

Welcome to PB, Jason. I believe the subject of Georgia Giants has come up here before, once or twice.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Jason I was sorry to hear of your Dads passing, I picked up fish from your hatchery three times and always spent some time with your Dad. Debra King used to post on this board years ago and went to a Pond Boss conference outside of Atlanta.
Do a search on Georgia Giants on this message board and you will see what lies ahead.
Thanks for joining.
BTW you were always very helpful when I picked up fish.
Bill

Sheesh, nothing like a 95mph fast ball, up and in, on the first pitch of the game!

Welcome, Jason....GGs definitely have a storied history here on the forum, no question there's been a lot of interest in the past. Definitely a good idea to look at some of their old threads, so you have a feeling for some of this.

As long as we're asking questions, I just read a description of the GG on the website that claims they grow heavier, and taste better....is there documentation that supports either, or both of these claims?

There still are GG's? I thought they weren't produced anymore?

Edit: my bad. I didn't know this thread was started recently. Being several pages i thought it was a old thread.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Cecil, I kept up with them since Ken passed away, Jason took over. Remember Debra told us only two people know the mix of GG, Ken and Jason

So they are still produced. I stand corrected. Heard a rumor or something they weren't.
