Hannibal MO. Booking east with extreme prejudice. I've got ANOTHER tank of fuel, sweet tea in the cup holder, Pink Floyd cranking through the Infinity, and a crapped out cruise control.
Out.

Got home at 7:00 pm....there's so much I want to convey, I just don't know where to start. Driving back from NE I tried to sort it all out, but everything I came up with fell way short of expressing what I want to say. Or more importantly, what I need to say. This weekend was beneficial to me on so many other levels, many of which had nothing to do with fish, or ponds. THANK YOU EVERYONE is completely inadequate, but it will have to do until I can collect my thoughts.
Such an amazing experience.

Stopped at TJ's this morning to get the rest of the stuff and re-pack the car. FWIW, the last ka-BOOM left a completely denuded blast diameter of 10'-11', and the center of it was cratered out. A few pieces of the cardboard box that the 2 punkins were sitting on, and that's about it. I don't know if the alfalfa will come back in that spot. Left TJ's and stopped at Omaha's place to look at his pond progress, and we talked about what he needs to discuss with the well driller. I filled up the car before I got to his place. 15.001 gallons. Left his place at around 2:45 p.m., arrived here at 10:30 p.m. It was great seeing old faces again, and even better putting faces to the new names! I wonder if Al and Otto made it back safely? Sunil, how's the concert?

To continue my little ramble on Pond Boss generosity, how about having THE esshup visit my pond? I imagine those outside the family pay a handsome penny for this privilege, but Scott wouldn't even accept a drink of water from me today. So cool. Pond Boss happens and works because of guys like Scott. My pond's eventual success will have many names attached to it.

I will stop by your place next time Josh. Molly should be a little more into everything. I would love to check out TJ's place too.

I also discovered one of the best burger places I've ever been too. HF Craves. Man that burger was historic.

Woman likes this band called Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and they were playing at a small venue in Pittsburgh.
I was not for it, but she booked tickets, so we went from the airport, to dinner, and then the show. Got home at midnight.
It was an interesting way to cap off the weekend, and what a weekend it was!!!!
Now, I have to call 'foul' on Omaha. If you were holding off on partying on Saturday just 'cause Scott was coming to your pond on Sunday, that is BS!!!!! You just said some guy was coming to your pond...you never said it was esshup!

You just said some guy was coming to your pond...you never said it was esshup! He was one of two guys I visited with at my pond that day. I wasn't sure when the other guy could make it. Was hoping it was earlier, but ended up being after 3pm. I didn't get off my place till late evening.

filled up the car before I got to his place. 15.001 gallons. I would be embarrassed to admit that on a public forum . Silly little diesel. I'll have you know that the hemi Ram gingerly sipped its way through a paltry 94 gallons of gasoline over the course of this trip. I do feel kinda' bad about the swath of forest that was felled to provide the receipts, though.

The trip was better than can be described here. I got to meet some great new people, see some old friends again, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. It's about a 10 hour drive from DFW to Lincoln, but 9.5 of that was super slab so it seemed like less. Mike Otto and I carpooled home, and it definitely made the ride more enjoyable. We solved a lot of the world's problems, so everybody can relax now. Bruce graciously opened his home and pond to all of us, and the lack of a defined agenda or schedule worked out great. After a talk from Bob Saturday afternoon, we all discussed our goals and how we planned to get there. Interestingly enough, sprkplug (Tony) was the only person that had already hit a home run. He had defined goals, a method of getting there, and a timetable. Despite what we all try to do, that's very rare thing. Great job buddy! Friday for me was mainly spent at TJ's with esshup and TJ. I was very impressed with his ponds, fish, and future plans. Never have I fished any private pond where there was the possibility of catching so many different kinds of fish. In 3 or 4 hours 7 different species, all fat and happy, were caught and released. It was a great afternoon. The only burp was when TJ's neighbors started texting him asking what caused their windows to implode. At that point, it was time to leave and leave quickly. Friday evening was spent at Bruce's, and I won't discuss that because one Pennsylvania attendee is trying to write revisionist history. Saturday we all met at Bruce's place, and it was a wonderful day. Lots of fish were caught, and the indoor gathering made a perfect match. I will say this about Bruce's LMB. Never have I seen so many XXL LMB caught and released. Very impressive results. Finally, we laugh sometimes about funny quotes like "here, take this I swear it's unloaded" or "I think I can jump that ditch with 5 more MPH". You can add "come on aboard the boat, it'll hold one more person no problem" to that list. Upper end of Bruce's pond. Beautiful view. TJ with one of his large HBG's esshup (Scott) with one of TJ's SMB Scott with a HSB at TJ's. IIRC just a shade under 10 pounds. Mike Otto and a homeless person.

Meeting and talking with Mike Otto and AL was flat out inspiring. I felt like I had known them both for years, after only five minutes. And Mike is pretty darn good with John Deere gators, too.

Surprised no one has commented on Sunil's new pet owl, Owlcoholic, pictured above. To my recollection that thing never left his shoulder except to harrass some neighboring whistle pigs...aptly named, and obviously was in great company.

That RES was a beast. I should've asked Alex if it took that fly on a slow fall, or right off the bottom....

Yes, the vast majority of my BG catches came while pounding the bottom with the jig. And from the perspective of catching a RES like Alex did, that makes sense to me. But I was using a 1/80 oz jighead, while he had a slower sinking tie....I was wondering if the fly had made it to the bottom, or if the fish hit it while sinking, or while he was stripping line on the retrieve.

Yolk, I had a 1" plastic on. Single micro tail, red (bloodworm), and I also tipped it with a waxworm to seal the deal.
I had other techniques I intended to try, SHOULD'VE tried, but the bloodworm was producing and I stayed with it once I hit on it. I did try fishing a plain jig with the waxies, as well as the bloodworm undressed, and I caught a few both ways, but the combo was the ticket.

Sparkie, we may have our religous differences [AUGMENTED vs CONTAMINATED], but we clearly agree on fundamentals. May I assume 2# test?

Dead on Yolk..... Sounds like you and I could possibly share a 10' jonboat without the politics of lure/bait selection leading to one or the other of us getting wet. Provided of course, that no GSF derivatives were present.
