I plan on being there late in the afternoon. I have already committed to fish the NBAA Division 54 championship at Summit Lake on Saturday. It will likely be a 2-hour drive to get to Bruce's place once the weigh in is over. Hopefully my partner and I can win our fourth tournament this year.

As you know its a true story! Lol! I guess thats what makes it so hilarious. Everybody that's followed me on here can attest. Long bumpy road, but worth it. If one person on here learns from my mistakes I guess it was all worth it. Not! I do hope some people learn from them though. Take it slow and better think things out.

Good recap Jw - and believe me you are not alone - I've got several stories that are as bad or worse than that. Would be a good article, send an email to Bob with your outline - I think he'd like it. The thesis is to research carefully and take it slow...every step must be measured or you'll have to live with permanent consequences. Guess it's the Pond Boss version of "sorority sisters late night drunk on Cabo Spring Break get tramp stamp tattoos".

We have all had interesting journeys ! All killed lots of fish and made whopper mistakes. I bet you can't get anyone on the experts' list to agree they are an expert in front of the others. We all have lots to learn and some to share. That is what the journey is all about.

Right on ewest. I can't wait till the sit back and relax part of it if there is such a thing. It's been a stressful journey so far. I think sometimes I take it a little too serious trying to make a perfect pond. Maybe what I have is my perfect pond. I should prob sit back and enjoy it more often. Not sure there is such a thing as a perfect pond?

After a whole lot of years of messing with ponds, I still consider myself the best fish killer around. Some of my experiments have been disasters. Of course, I don't label them experiments until after the fact.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Funny thing is that when you do achieve something with your pond, you then have a whole new set of challenges with how to maintain it!

Agree with all said here...we can never perfect nature - always dealing with wild cards which will reveal entirely new sets of challenges per Sunil. Carefully shepherding the course of the fishery development through thoughtful strategies will help eliminate some of the severe and costly errors, though - and that's one invaluable characteristic of the PB forum IMO.

Before I consider launching a pond project, change in strategy, or shifting my goals, I typically research the forum at least a couple weeks reading the archives, then actively post on it a few times, then finally call or email Bill, Cecil, Eric, Bruce, Bob, Otto et al before I finally pull the trigger. I'm grateful without exception I've received nothing short of enthusiastic and expert direction. My completion dates might suffer, but I end up saving myself tons of $ and heartache down the road because I took the time and utilized all resources available here.

I would worry about the 46 low not the 64 high. 46 and wet will lead to hypothermia.

Got to make sure you keep your Floridian full of antifreeze when travelling in northern climes. This would seem be a task that could be delegated to Sunil.

Yolk, Sue is my alter-ego when it comes to that kind of work detail.

BTW, I caught wind that you sent a party favor package in lieu of attending???

Well, Sue says she'll skinny dip down to 48 degrees, so we've got a bit of a buffer there.
