smallpond, the retention pond is 1/5 or 1/6 acre.

I do hand feed pellets most every day. HSB, BG, and CC are clearly hitting the feed.

I have not seen any of the (20) YP I put in there, but I know they are in there.

At my main pond, the YP do hit the feed (I believe), but I haven't seen any hit the feed in this retention pond.

I was happy with Zetts.

Well stated, good Dr.

Love seeing these photos of my babies growing up. That SMB has flourished under Steve's care, and seems well on her way. The HSB came from Condello stock way back in 2009 - he donated his top 10% class. She's probably pushing her age limits yet doesn't exhibit any characteristics of declining I could determine. Easy 26-27" and well over 100 WR. Not bad for a small pond in SE Nebraska...thanks Pond Boss brothers for the guidance.

Josh, great HSB. Biggest I've seen out of a pond. Maybe TJ's adding Ensure to the water. That was a brute!

Here's a pic of Momma with a Silver Salmon. We've already decided to go back to Alaska next year, but we'll skip the Halibut deal. Dropping a 5 pound weight and waiting for a bite wasn't as much fun as actually "fishing". Brought back a lot of fish though.

We also hit SalmonStock for you hippies out there. 3 days of music, muddy campers, and good times. I actually had a stoned guy come up and say hi. He said he'd always wanted to meet Santa Claus. I told him to be good for the rest of the year or he'd get coal in his stocking. He said yes sir and moved on.

Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Funny. Yep, bunch of Bluegrass and reggae bands singing about the love of Alaska, and their fears of mining ruining their state. I will add that there was no meat on a stick, so the festival lost points for me there. We always have meat on a stick around here.

Apparently there's some issue with the Pebble Mine in Bristol Bay and the destruction of spawning waters. I haven't researched it, so I haven't formed an educated opinion yet, but it does look pretty sketchy from a nature standpoint. Strip mining and head water's is a bad combo.

Josh, that's it. I saw those round no Pebble Mine stickers on every truck, bicycle, store window, and baby forehead for 100 miles.

Dear Santa: All I want for Christmas is a HSB the size that Josh caught from TJ's pond to grow in my pond. And to be back in North Carolina fishing with my friends...

You should have stayed there. Heat index of 110 today.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Concert looks like a blast - gotta love rubbing shoulders with fringe groups who don't carry weapons but hackysacks! Bet they had lots of eggplant on a stick...but it's just not the same.

Good work Al, I'm calling for a full report on AK ASAP.

Pretty cool Al!
Sounds like ya had a Great Time!

TJ,
There is probably more hardware in that audience than you think wink

Alaska is on my list of places to eventually visit. In fact, it's the only one on my list!

Victor, continue to be a good boy and great things will come your way (NC was a blast).

Dave, got home this AM after an all night flight, and I could stick my fist between the sod and the sidewalk. After watering before we left, it had easily pulled away 3".

TJ, fringe wouldn't even begin to describe the crowd. Girls wearing tutus with rubber boots, guys wearing nuked $10 blue jeans with $400 Simms fishing jackets, grooming issues in full regalia, it was amazing.

And JKB, yes there was hardware. wink

I will add one more thing. I love my state, period. But if this thing had been here, there would have been fights, drunks laying in the grass, panhandlers, etc., non of that was here. We went by the fairgrounds the morning after, and there was not one piece of trash on the ground. These people can party uncontrollably in the most socially responsible way I've ever seen.

Al -- you are making life difficult! grin

You live a charmed life. I'm envious. Damn, I may just have to check out SalmonStock for next year.

I was at a several-day family reunion last week in northern Minnesota/Wisconsin. One of my crazy cousins, who loves the northwoods, was still ready to go "back home" to Houston where he said it was warm this time of year!

I'd much rather spend the summer where you are at, instead Texas or Oklahoma.

Have a safe trip back home. BUT-- POST MORE PICTURES before you head back south.

Ken

Just be glad you weren't in Nebraska, or some stone cold SOBER guy might've thrown a net over you and claimed he'd caught a sasquatch.

Last day of Summer before the kiddos head back to school - had a great time at the farm and posted some great fish!

16" tail-dancing SMB

25.5" wiper, estimate 120+ WR

Found a floating cage that disappeared last Fall during a major wind storm. I searched for weeks last Fall and Winter for this and only now found it yesterday on the East property line. No worse for wear, man I was pumped at the discovery!

Finished the day off with a homemade pizza on the Green Egg with a little Plum wood smoke and fresh Jalapenos from the garden - perfect!
