We finally closed on the property we were looking at!!! I have taken samples of the ponds and just shipped them off to A&M to get the low down on what I have to start with. I am getting a well put in ASAP so I can set a low water line that my fish can live with. It's been a month or so since I have been to the property to look at it and in that time the water is down a few feet (looks like my 1.5a is now under 1) and there seems to have been a fish kill. I counted around 15 big bass heads with only about 1/2the spine still attached on the banks. Not a very good first trip to the property when it was really ours! I do not have power in the property yet so am looking into some solar aeration possibilities. Water still looked good but had some new floating algae like a film of green? I was mainly there to fill the wildlife feeders so did not fish hard but tossed the rod a few time without a bite, also thinking I shouldn't stress any fish at this point anyway. It's been Hot and Hotter with very little rain for LaGrange.
I talked to somebody about doing a shock survey but need to wait for a little cooler weather.
I was thinking about getting some FHM just to help feed what ever is in there but don't want to mess things up worse till I get some aeration going? What are your thoughts?
On a nice side note saw 2 faun and a doe, AND one big Turkey with about 10 to 15 baby turkeys!!! Really cool!
I will try to post a few shots of when the tanks looked a little better. I have a Google Earth shot with all 4 in there, the large and good color one was 1.37 acre, the brown one around 1 acre and the other two are small run over pools? I would like to clean up the small ones and use as forage ponds, I hope?
