Can anyone tell me the best method to get rid of Cattails this time of the year. I have a 2 acre pond and Cattails are almost around the whole thing. I want to leave one side natural so I don't want to kill them all. Are they good or bad for the pond?

pondrookie,

Some people like cattails; some don't. Depends on your preference...for me, I don't want any to get started because they can be very hard to control..as you apparently see. The best product for killing them that I have used (and I'm sure others have good solutions also) is Reward. It really knocks them out...but they come back over time and require re-treatment.

Kelly Duffie is the resident expert pro on this topic (or one of them) and perhaps he will offer you some suggestions...if not, call him at Estes Chemicals.

Meadowlark - thanks for the compliment, I think? However, email-inquiries are much preferred over phone calls for this hobby. I feel like I "live" on the phone as it is, and gratis-consulting doesn't quite get the daytime bills paid - lol.
I've already responded directly to Pondrookie's concise email. Ahh, ain't technology great! sometimes?
