I agree!

Good looking RBT too. Did he end up having it for dinner? You gotta get him out to the pond more often!

We will have the folks over for dinner and prepare it for him, that way the folks don't have to worry about cooking it. My mom has RA really bad, and can't use her hands much.

I wish he could go a couple times a week, but I am so glad he has gone at least once. He wants to go, just that at his age of 88 there aren't many days he is feeling up to it. He can't believe there is trout in his pond, he never would have even thought it possible. He originally dug out a spot of it for irrigation of his nursery stock back in the 50's. Hopefully the circumstances of the weather, the trout, and his health all work out so he can go trout fishing a few more times. He likes BG fishing with the flyrod, but is discouraged because he can't stand to do it. I've been working on that, we'll see. You should see him bragging about catching the trout to everyone he sees, it's great!!!

Great story

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Fish, get your Dad to practice fly casting sitting down - a lawn chair is perfect - good therapy for 88 year old bones.
I KNOW!!

Give him my very best regards and NEVER stop fishing

Hey George, his name is George too.

It so happened that when he was fishing, he made the remark "boy, it sure would be nice to be able to flyfish". As he kept fishing, I walked over to the car and got out his old flyrod that he didn't know I had with us. His eyes lit up when I handed it to him.

I'm telling him that I want to learn how to use it in my small 12' canoe that I can't stand up in, can he show me how wink....I got a short lesson. I'll need a lot more wink wink

Started to harvest the RBT. I figure with the heat we are getting, they won't last much longer. The one here has been the biggest so far at 2.75# and 17". laugh

Caught mostly on SS. Regular brown. They weren't interested in red.....today.

Thanks Ken. As I have said before, the PondBoss Forum has made it possible for me, all the info here past and present. It has made me aware of so much stuff that I never realized.

Word to Big Bird on that one, fnc.

beautiful rainbows.

How long ago did you stock them, and at what size? did you feed the pigs all winter?

Stocked in Oct'12. Did not feed them one bit until this spring. I wanted them to eat away at a unpredicted GSF spawn that I had. I bought 10-14" in size. Didn't get a chance to weigh and measure them when they went in, but they were probably around .6# and the majority in the 11-12" range.

FnC - By not feeding those trout they must have found something to eat. Nice pictures. Hopefully it was abunch of GSF. Apologizes to JHAP and his GSF membership.

I was able to set a new pond record for HBG this evening, but only by the skin of my teeth. This guy went 11" and 25.2 ozs....beating out the old record by only 1.2 ozs.

I had hoped for an increase of at least 2 oz increments, but I guess I'll take what I can get!

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.
