RAH, I had a nasty cold a little while ago and what helped my congestion in the lungs was Mucinex Maximum Strength tablets - one every 12 hrs. I'd only take that for daytime, I'd use Robitussin Maximum Strength Cough and Chest Congestion DM. Both over the counter, but both worked very well. It loosened up the congestion so I could get it out and let me sleep at night.

I didn't get a shot, and the doc said I just had a bad cold, not the flu.

I got the flu shot and my wife didn't. She had the flu really bad and mine was less then one third of her ordeal. She is the strong one in our family so we will be getting the shots from now on.

They originally gave me vicodin but it contained an antihistamine as well so I could not take it having experienced a side effect in the past due to a condition that I have. If I am upright or sleep on an incline, I seem to be alright. If I lay down, things start to gurgle.

RAH, you probably have acid reflux. You need to get it checked out as we lost a good friend at 43 due to this. I had it bad 2 years ago and had my stomach scoped and they found a lump one in.x3in. which turned out to be stomach lymphona which has no symptons until it is usually to late. So doc. told me acid reflux helped me big time. They can't cure it but it beat back with a easy chemno.Good luck.

Think that I am dealing with pneumonia based on having flu (I'm 4 days in) and the symptoms of others with flu. Right now, I breath fine when standing. No pain from it other than the torn abs from coughing fits.

That would be good, but if you have it after you whip the flu, carry yourself to the doc. Treatment is simple and effective.I had pneumonia twice last winter(chemno) but not your symptoms.

This is starting to look like 1974 in Ky where we taught school.

Yeah, Moore caught pure HELL.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I think the tornado was 2.5 miles wide at one point. This may include the debris ball but at any rate it is devastating and Sad.

Prayers go out to all families involved.

It stayed around, if reports are true, for 45 minutes. An elementary school was destroyed with children inside. They are still trying to get to them.

Say your prayers and hug your children and grandchildren.

I'm not sure how the Okies keep on keeping on. My son was in Norman when the mile wide tornado went through Moore several years back while he worked at OU. We didn't get in contact with him until several hours after that big tornado -- and he didn't even know about it! I visited several weeks later. Driving from Norman, through Moore, into OK city, it looked like someone had cleared a mile-wide right-of-way as far as one could see, west to east.

Now he lives in Edmond, and is some kind of executive director at the University of Central Oklahoma. Housing and security fall under his domain. He just tells the students and staff to take appropriate cover, which they are apparently well accustomed to doing. Yeesh!

When we talked to him yesterday after the Shawnee tornadoes, he and his wife just don't see these any different than my wife and I see thunderstorms or snow storms. He and his bride were at home yesterday when they got the warnings. He said they just went into their shelter under the garage floor for about 20 minutes. About two years ago a tornado went through their neighborhood destroying the house across the street, but only damaging the gate on their backyard fence. I think it was last year that a very large wildfire burned to within a few hundred feet of the back of their house!

I'm glad I live where I do. And, I pray for the souls who live where big tornadoes come through on a regular basis.

Let's hope for good news out of Moore.

The news isn't good. This from Fox news. At one of the elementary school, they have changed the search and rescue mission to a recovery mission. Evidently, 24 3rd graders didn't make it.

There are always tornado's in "Tornado Alley", but I don't remember this many, this big in a while. The tail end of this system is heading back towards Hillsboro again. It's just seems to be circling around DFW because of the High Cap.

Thoughts and prayers to all of you in OK.

Local news is reporting along the same lines. 7 dead thus far and 20-30 missing. That school took a direct dead center hit from the tornado.
