Friends, I spent most of the morning soul searching. You know, looking inside, trying to see where things could have run afoul.

After I gathered my feelings, I was able to make a post here this afternoon. It proved to be a cathartic experience to bare my soul, so to speak.

Once it was suggested that perhaps I was not the cause of Diego's sudden and untimely departure from our dimension, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief.

Now, the specter of foul play has been raised, and I find it emotionally challenging. Further, I find it even more disturbing that I may be a suspect, or at the very least, a person of interest, in the untimely demise of Diego. With malicious intent, to boot.

The funeral pyre is lit.

Diego will go on to the next dimension (quickly and without autopsy) promptly at 10:13PM EST this evening. Burn, baby. Burn.

Diego, 'if I don't meet you no more in this world, then I'll meet you on the next one, and don't be late. Don't be late.'

Sunil, your friends are just trying to make you feel better, not true you killed Diego as sure as a barber likes to talk. Salt poisoning is probably the worse way for a catfish could have died. It is good that you did not see his innards, it would have been ugly, possibly as ugly as Ned's lover on his canoe trip. I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the truth will always get out. I hope you have a good night's sleep.

Dear Friends,

We are gathered here this evening to honor, and pay homage to, the life of Diego, channel catfish. I'd like to share a few memories and then open up the floor for any other comments you would like to make about the life of Diego, and how Diego may have affected your life.

I remember just a few days after Diego joined our family, he said to me "Hey Man! This dinky aquarium sucks! What do you expect me to be doing up in here?" I wanted to reply "Diego, this aquarium is certainly better than that dinky and stinky aquarium you were in at that third rate fish store," but I didn't. I just laughed it off and smiled at the joyous times to come.

Another time, Diego made a snide comment about my wife. But we let if roll off and focused on the good times. This was all before the bluegill slayings.

My dear Diego...I guess if I had paid attention at certain technical presentations at Pond Boss Conferences I, II, III, IV, or V, I would have known if you were a male or female, but that's water under the bridge at this point.

Go easy, Diego.

I present to you:

Diego, Channel Catfish, August 6, 2012 - March 18 or 19, 2013

Diego, at rest:

Flambeau finale....a fitting finish for a finned friend.

I thought the use of newspaper as trimming was especially poignant.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Hello Sunil my name is Oliver. My master is fast asleep and probabley dreaming of ice out. I will probably get in trouble for going online again but hey this is as important to me as the free bones the puppy hook up site was offering for first time members.

Anyway... I'm sure you can see my sorrow for the demise of Diago in my bulging Caliver eyes. Good bye my forked tailed bullhead.

The wheels of justice do roll on. As to the matter of "kosher salt",we all know it could only come from one country. After obtaining a like sample and testing into the wee hours this morning. The "kosher salt" appears to have come from Wally World" and was laced with horsemeat. We need help to finish our investigation(both financially and experts who are well versed in these matters. All of the Texas people can send money. Just adress the mail to "Justice for Diego",I can take care of the signature.

Ken,
Done, and thanks for helping out this way, your efforts will not be forgotten. Bless you for defending Diego.

Was $1000 enough?

I gotta say, with this much mystery behind the chain of events that led to the trajic loss of this youngster, and Sunil's apparent hand in it, I never would have had him/her cremated in my own home. Now his/her troubled spirit is likely trapped between here and the other side, left to haunt the house until a time when his/her death can be justified.

Sunil, if I were you, I'd just fess up and turn myself in so the poor lil guy/gal's spirit will be freed and can move on.

Or sell the house.

I noticed the reference to "kosher" salt as well. Perhaps the rush to judge poor Sunil so harshly is premature-maybe he is actually an unsuspecting hero.
What if "Diego", the American Channel Cat, was actually "Dalal", the al Quaida fingerling, nefariously inserted into our waters to grow, multiply, and plug the cooling intake of the closest nuclear power plant?
Stands to reason he'd be exquisitely sensative to Kosher salt.....

Diego's funeral pyre was in our outdoor fireplace, so hopefully, the shade of Diego will be relegated to outdoor hauntings.

On a side note, I did offer to also cremate Hipp, the hamster, who is currently residing frozen in our freezer awaiting a dirt nap this spring. Hipp ended up getting a cancerous club foot that spread through his/her body.

Sigh!! My crime fighting friends, this is so obvious. The "killer" left the irrefutable clues
in plain sight. The little rock formation in the bottom left of the picture. It can only be Bill Clinton!!!!

I have read this sad story several times and what amazes me is that you have an outdoor fireplace! RIP Diego
