Does anyone know of a way a private pond owner can tag his fish? I would love to be able to mark fish over a period of 1 week and then log my findings over the years.

Wow, that's a long thread. I only browsed through the 1st 2 pages then decided to come back here with the next logical question... Who is Gregg Grimes? Or rather, and more importantly, can you provide a name or link to (prefered) a company that sells a recommended tagging kit? I can read up on the info here later - I just need to order one of there ASAP.
Thanks for the quick reply!

Give 'em a call. Ask for their floy tagging kit. They sell color coded tags (100 of one color) or numbered floy tags (colored, AND numbered). You can track individual fish with the numbered tags.

Bass - I got my first tagging gun last season. I was intimidated at first (didn't want to kill any fish) but after a dozen or so tags placed I felt pretty comfortable.
For me, not only has tagging has added another level of knowledge gathering but also an entertainment value... Like betting a case of beer on who catches the first tagged fish or the highest tag number that day.

The lake I manage is in a community of vacation homes so I am looking for numbered tags for sure so fisherment can log info and send it to me with the tag #. This system looks pretty sweet, but I'm looking in to all options. http://www.fishtagger.comThanks for the replies!

Sorta like the numbered tags that Greg sells. Will one person be doing the tagging, or multiple people at the same time? Call them http://lakework.com/site/index.php as I just went to their website and it seems to be having problems - I cannot access their on-line store.

The sytem that Greg sells has a better tool for inserting the tags. I have tagged fish in my pond since 5-2009 with the numbered floy tags. Specifically yellow in color and I can still see the tags on the fish when they are swimming. I can see tagged LMB on nests. I tag my fish in the same spot every time.
