The boys wanted to tangle with something a little larger than our usual HBG, so we hit the catfish pond this afternoon...

Gavin, with a 6.5 lb CC:

Gage, with a 1.5 lb HSB....these were stocked a year ago at 6-7". This one went over 13" today.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Pretty cool they can just ask you for something different and you can grant them that wish. Nicely done Sparky.

I didn't weigh it, that smallie is just 12-1/2". That one was just 5-6" when I stocked them in late October of 2011.

That's looking good for you Shorty! Reason I asked about the glass shrimp earlier, is because I think that's what TJ has and thought maybe some made the trip.

I did get 700+ glass shrimp from TJ last fall but have not found any in my recent rake surveys or seen any of them in shallow water.

My rake surveys have turned up at lot of tadpoles, small GSH, YOY RES, damzel fly larvea, dragon fly larvea, a few large leeches, a few fingernail clams, at least one large FHM, one large leopard frog, and one walking stick, but no glass shrimp. Despite that I think they are still present in the pond.

Wow, Shortay! That's quite a rake survey!

Truth be told Sunil I am just keeping a small area clean for spawning, I have pea gravel and some rock piles in the shallow south corner of my dam, but it is the one place I have FA. I have been running well water into that corner and the FA seems to like it, not sure why but it does.

It was an impressive inventory of creatures.

Shorty did you get all the sleet , freezing rain , snow and hail as per the Weather Channel ? Saw where Denver went from 70 to 16 overnight with high winds and 6-8 inches of snow. Flights cancelled and snow plowing deferred.

We are on the edge of the nasty stuff but it mostly missed us. We had temps around freezing this morning with a little bit of sleet on the windshield when I left this morning. I was hoping for more rain but we only had .58" of rain in the last 24 hours in our gauge, Lincoln had .90" Northwestern NE had highs in the teens yesterday while the southeast corner of the state had a high of 75. There was straight line wind damage in central NE yesterday with roofs getting torn off and power poles snapped.

I took 9 boys fishing this afternoon on my maiden voyage in my new boat. They had a blast!

Most folks dream of a bass boat, not me...I have always dreamed of an extra wide center console...Today I crossed another item off the bucket list!

What do you mean "most people dream of a bass boat"? crazy

My BIL has a really nice 19' Boston Whaler. His uncle gave it to him. (insert envy here) I wish I bought his Coastal Fisherman when he sold it. I did not even know it was for sale until it was gone. Some doctor scarfed it up, and this thing was loaded.

Nice boat!!!

Sunil, those fish were caught in my lake. I have a super cool pond manager who uses my lake as a proving grounds for his crazy fish growing experiments...

Scott, the plan is to use the boat at my lake from April-September and down in Gulf Shores from October-March.....
