I have not been able to get grass to grow on the shoreline of my new pond. Prior to the winter we had initial growth but since the spring melt the area has stayed very wet and soggy. The pond is dug out and there is a lot of clay in the soil so there is very little seapage. I have a tremendous amount of water shed that feeds the pond. Does any one have ideas on how to get the shore area to drain off so that I can get a lawn area to grow?

I had several areas like you are describing around my pond and the only way I could get the grass established was to build it up about 3 inches with topsoil on top of the clay. Lot of work but it did the trick.

The issue is not the water level but the watershed behind the pond that keeps the soil wet as it trys to flow into the pond. I think I need to try and divert some of it away from the pond and allow easier flow to the pond of the rest. The good news/ bad news is that I seem to have plentyh of watershed to feed the pond.

Most of my water comes from the front yard, I put in a 4 inch pipe from the side of my gravel road across the 25' to the pond. I then dug a trench across the road and put in another pipe to allow water to pass under the road. It has help out alot in my pond. Good luck with your endeavors.

Bob, I was looking at the photos on your web site. Did you put those 4 inch PVC pipe in before the water filled in or did you sink them in water? The one mistake I made so far was to not put mine in before ours filled. I'll never get a chance to do it on dry ground again.

I did it after the pond was full but it had dropped down about 6 inches or so during a dry spell and I turned off the well pump. I was able to do it when it was dry. You might look into renting a 3 or 4 inch pump for a weekend and drop your some so you can work before it fills back up. Shouldn't cost too much to rent and can move quite a bit off water.

bob great pics of the ships, 1 question is it true that the carriers are the fastest ships in the fleet I have always heard that that were reaching upward of 70 knots. they say top speed is classified any truths? I was a fly boy myself.

Lets just say they lock the bridge above 30 kts! The difference in the Enterprise from the rest of the ships is she has 8 reactors 4 main and four auxiliary so she can actually put the steam from 2 reactors on each shaft. The new ones only have 2 reactors but they are much bigger. I think probably the fastest ship ever was the Long Beach she was a cruiser but had 4 reactors.
