I meant were the wipers recently stocked whats the details on them.. That's actually a yellow bass from public waters. They are an invasive species here and were removed. I imagine a well intentioned bucket biologist thought they were wipers too.

Interesting. I thought it was a young HSB.

I hate it when a fish tries to imitate another species for nefarious purposes.

I had never seen a yellow bass until a couple of years ago. Then they appeared and seem to be thriving in some lakes. I expect larger fish must get a lot of them. Not sure what their long term effect will be.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Iowa Report on Yellow BassParagraph 3 was interesting, and I didn't know that. Biggest I've seen is less than 3/4 pound, but there are pics of guy's catching them at almost 3 pounds.

Good piece Fire. They're a nuisance, but they are easy to catch. Between our small group of friends we removed between 50-60 probably. They are small fillets, but they are just as good as white bass.

Yellow Bass and White Perch are really similar...the only thing that benefits from hoards of schooling fish like that are predators large enough to benefit. We have a good size reservoir [1,700 ac] near Lincoln called Branched Oak, and it has been overrun with white perch. The resulting fishery has few WE and HSB, but the ones caught are typically very large. The BC and FC fishing however is nearing epic status...I'd say it's one of the best FC fisheries in the world at this point due to all those WP. The best method for catching monster FC - Trolling cranks during daylight hours! Amazing...

Hit the pond Saturday, might have been our last day on the ice. Had another good day, probably 20 HBCP to 14", dozen YP to 13", 5 WE to 13", and SMB from 10-17", and early in the day we finally found some decent BG to 8.5", which is great for my pond. I was very happy to see the larger YP finally, we caught two Master angler fish and several chunky 8-12" fish. Did catch a 4" HBCP...first F2 from the ice...hmmmm - will they become a management issue moving forward??? I didn't do much fishing myself as photos will reveal, instead worked as guide punching holes, cooking brats and snapping pics - and that was ok by me!

Some beautiful fish there. Those big female YP are really nice.
Two ponds, 13 and 15 acres on the Mattaponi River.

Great looking fish TJ! Nice BG Josh, well done. Some really nice looking fish there. While we didn't measure every fish, those that we did were 10"+. Would be my first MA bluegills. And on that noodle rod, they were a blast!

And is BC black crappie or Blue Catfish?, or Bruce Condello? FC - Flathead Catfish...did I use the wrong abbreviation? Is it FHC? BC - Blue Catfish...did I mess that up, too?

According to the acronyms list, FHC = flathead catfish and BC = blue catfish. No FC.

I thought BC was black crappie. Perhaps it's BCP, but that's a little too close to another abbreviation frequently used by one of our more renowned and loquacious left coast members and so I'm sure it wasn't chosen for the very reason that it would encourage him to share posts on his apparel preferences!

The 'bad' BCP has 'Brazilian' in it.

Thanks Al - was very happy to see larger YP showing up at long last - helps address some of my concerns. Now I can focus on increasing the population of YP and getting these to 14-15"+ size!
