I have a one acre pond that will not hold water. I have gotten to the point of doing something about it and have pretty much decided on using the ESS-13 method instead of bentonite because of the guarantee that comes with ESS-13. I was wondering if anyone has used this before and what kind of success they had? How was it applied: Empty lake method or waterborne method? I would appreciate any input.

redfinger,
A quick search of this site found the same question was asked one year ago with the same response. Maybe the E-SS dealer could refer you to some pond owners that have used this method. I'm guessing you have already see this site, but just in case ... [info@seepagecontrol.com]

I'm a pond newbie singing the "pond seepage blues" and was wondering if budman completed his ESS-13 treatment as scheduled for october. Anything to report thus far?

Good morning all, sorry been really bussy at work. Here is what happen no my pond. a gaint mess. after the pond was dug out it would not hold water. the ess-13 folks out ofAZ. were great. They flew up (on there own dime) after i sent them soil samples to do a last site inspection before they started the process, this was in Oct. After the inspection was over they told me they had very BAD news. my big pond,(one acre) was all slit, not sure what the slit is. Bottom line i needed 2,000 yards of goood clay put in the pond before they could do there thing. The cost or bid i got was a100.00 per dump truck load, (10 yard truck) Iwas sick. Already have spent 19,000. don't have anymore money for now. S00000 i have a big dry pond sitting there. The ess-13 bid was 10,000 to seal the pond up to 1 acre. These people were very honest. they refused to do a half assed job. When i get money for clay i will finish. the pond bottom for a liner is to rocky. Iam screwwd for now. thought i would have a beautiful pond by the end of Oct.

Sorry to hear of your setback with the pond budman. It’s nice to know that they were honest about your situation, but I guess if they’re going to guarantee the results they would have to be. It sounds like my next step would be to get them to check my soil. It’s pretty dense clay here in Kentucky but I was only left with a couple of feet (more or less) above the limestone bedrock that I suspect it leeching into. There’s no other evidence, like sink holes, that leads me to think otherwise. There “was” a spring at the base of the dam but, as suspected, it didn’t’ have enough push to fight the water pressure. We drained the pool (or I should say it drained itself) and reworked the area by digging back into the flow and plugging it by packing with 5000 lbs of bentonite mixed with the native clay. The pond is about 3/4 acre and the drop is about 3 to 4 inches a day...both before and after the bentonite treatment. I may be in the same clay-hauling situation as you, but I guess the folks at Seepage Control can determine that.
