I put HBG in my pond about 5 years ago. I did a little fishing last weekend and caught these. My guess is the top one is a bluegill, the middle I don't know, and the bottom is a HBG.

What do you think?

From top to bottom.. Hybrid bluegill, redear?? Or bluegill, regular bluegil..

Also the pic is upside down through the link..

I believe in catch and release. I catch then release to the grease..

Top fish....90% sure it's a bluegill/redear hybrid
Bottom fish....90% sure it's a bluegill/green sunfish hybrid

Middle fish.....Certainly doesn't appear to be pure anything, but lacks some of the traits that point me toward any particular F-1 mix. Kinda looks like a mutt.

Holding a redear sunfish is like running with scissors.

Is the original picture really upside down? It's normal for me...lol

I did catch a few pumpkinseeds a few years ago, I wonder if that's the mutt part smile

Here is a picture of all the fish I caught. I hope this one isn't upside down? The original 3 fish from the first picture are mixed in with this picture.

My take: All hybrids of one sort or another.

top.... RES x BG

middle... PS x BG

bottom... GSF x BG...heavy on the GSF.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

I'm leaning towards sprkplug's asessment. If the middle fish isn't PSxBG, then I'd vote for RESxPS

Top pic as it appears

Top pic -Mostly BG

Mid pic - Mostly PS possible BG genes

Bottom pic HBG ( BG x GSF)

Groupe pic - mostly mutts with some HBG some PS and some BG and GSF genes.

FYI

PS

PS

PS X GSF

PS X BG

GSF X BG = HBG

That middle fish is most likely PSxBG.

I'm going with "Hybrid Swarm" . grin

The only way to know for sure would be DNA analysis. Examination or clear pictures of the gill rakers could also help.
