We have been *attempting* to rehabilitate an old farm pond. After re-excavating and adding a polyacrylamide to the soil (very sandy) the pond was filled with a mixture of bentonite and liquid polyacrylamide added to the incoming water flow. For a couple days the pond lost appoximately inches a day then it totally blew and is losing a foot a day. It is currently at 1/2 capacity. Further underwater inspection revealed a myriad of cracks - not on the bottom but towards the base of the steepest banks. The owners had attempted sealing the pond with bentonite when it still held water (about 10 years ago). Could this be from the old bentonite? Any suggestion?? Looks to me like we'll have to drain it completely and start over
