After reading a reponse to another post by lakedoctor, I went and checked farther down the hill from my dam. I found a pretty good flow of water coming out of the hill side. I know no one can tell with out seeing it, but is it likely this is the result of my leak? Or could it be just another spring like the ones at my headwaters? Any thought? It's a pretty good flow, so much that I think it would drain the pond dry in no time. It never does, just never gets as big as it's supposed to.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Sullpond,

Have you considered using dye to see if the water is coming out of your pond vs. a spring?

I know Aquatic Ecosystems sells special dyes for that purpose. Can anyone else fill him in on this?

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

wouldn't a gallon of Aquashade do the trick? The colored dye would be easy to follow -

Thats a great idea to do a die test. But make sure you get all the info that you can from it I like to do a three part test.If you can do the test on a still calm day it will work the best.If you start by putting the die in the closest one third next to the outlet water then check you signs if the die shows up you know where the leak is or at least what part of the pond it is in.Then do the middle then the rest this will help not only to see if you got a leak but the general location.
