Here's a photo of my daughter holding a just under one pound BG she caught at our pond. No it's not the sought after two pound bluegill, but when we bought this place three years ago it seems like we hardly caught any gills bigger than the palm of our hands. Now we regularly catch them like this.  There are no superior genetics in this pond. Insofar as I know no new blood has been introduced since the G&P stocked it in the mid 1960s. And I don't spend a fortune on feed. Probably only about a $150 a year in a 15 acre pond. Mostly Aquamax but once in awhile some cheap stuff I buy at the local farm store when I'm too lazy or too busy to get to the Purina dealer. Just posting this to show what feeding can do.

Nice example of what feeding higher protein pellets can do to raise BG. FYI that is a very good example for a female BG exhibiting main key features of yellowish breast, shorter more semi-circle shaped ear flap, and lack of black tipped scales on the forehead (nape).

Nice BG! Feeding, and your LMB predation, are helping your BG improve. If I never caught a BG larger than that in my pond I'd be more than happy...she's a porker! Good work.
