The birds around here think so! I saw a bunch of Robins today, there was a turkey vulture eating a squirrel on the road by the house yesterday (it was well tenderized) and I saw a large flock of sandhill cranes today.

Don't be surprised if we get the coldest weather yet sometime this month. Even the animals get regularly fooled.
I recall one year where we didn't get any subzero temps until mid February.
All we need is a change in the jet stream and everything will be drastically different.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

We could still get one big snow. No snow so far this year. Last year at this time, it was blizzard conditions. 9 foot snow drifts.

I jumped a flock of about 20 wood ducks from the beaver pond behind my house yesterday. I have never seen wood ducks around here this late into winter. It was 72 degrees yesterday and 57 today. I cannot remember such a mild winter. We've had maybe two cold spells that each lasted 3-4 days. Outside of that, we've been running mostly in the 50's for highs with several days well into the 60's and even 70's.

This was the year that I finally got snow shoes for Christmas. I have almost taken them out of the package.

I woke up to a tornado watch this morning. It's a bit early for tornado watches.

Lets see…at 4:00 am this morning, a raging blizzard was starting up in N.W. Kansas, we are experiencing 58 degree temps along with T storms in S.C. Kansas, and Tornado watches to the South of us. I love this part of the country.

We are in a winter storm watch here today. Depending on how this winter storm rolls through we could get 5-7" of snow or 10-12" snow starting tonight into Saturday. It's supposed to rain all day first. The good news is that Unadilla Bill did not see his shadow yesterday in Nebraska. http://www.1011now.com/news/headlines/83351312.html'Unadilla Bill,' the famous stuffed groundhog was presented to the town Tuesday morning with *no* shadow! That means he's predicting an early spring for Nebraskans.

That blizzard is going to dump 20 inches of snow on Denver. I wonder what it is going to do in the Midwest. 70 today, 45 tomorrow.

Woody say's Michigan is in for an early spring Woody She has a pretty good track record. If she is correct, fruit trees may be in trouble if they bud then we get a good freeze.

I thought they all split for better places in the winter. There have been about 40 or so Mallards in the pond out back all winter. The pond never completely froze over. They are out there just quacking away and doing duck things.

Spring may have sprung. But late this afternoon through tomorrow morning we are supposed to get the remains of what didn't fall out of the sky as it passed over our friends in Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska. Thankfully, they aren't calling for a lot of snow.

I sure hope Woody is right, I don't enjoy winters like I use to. It's been a mild winter here too, only 16" of snow on the ground at the cabin but still managed to get below zero 10 times in January.

We are missing this storm, Shorty. We've got a little residual snow in the shade, but most of the fields are open.

Still snowing lightly here but I think it's about done. We have 11-1/2" very wet snow on the ground.

I woke up to about 4 inches of snow this morning here in northeastern Indiana. When the wife and I drove through Churubusco, Indiana it looked like about 6 inches.
Part of Ft. Wayne Indiana got almost 7 inches according to the WGN weather blog.
Once we got south of Ft. Wayne it was mostly rain. No snow on the ground.
We're supposed to drop to more normal February temps later next week.

Got about 1" of heavy wet snow here. It was all gone by this evening. Supposed to be 50°F on Monday here, then down into the upper 30's the rest of the week.

Flies and mosquitoes are very confused here in East Texas. I'm very cautious about snakes right now. Weather has been warm enough that some of our creepy crawlies may come out to play.

Nice and sunny today. Beautiful day! Could get a bit ugly next weekend, but hey, it's Michigan. I went up to Fremont today. Cloudy and snow all over the place. Came back to GH and was greeted with warmth and sunshine. Talked to a kid at the local convenience store. He put on a wet suit and took some sort of water board (can't remember the type) out on Lake Michigan today. Said he had a blast (burrrrr!!!) Now he has February 4th to brag about Polar Plunges were on the news today from Muskegon, but it is not very Polar! Wimps!!! (they got more gut's than me!) Kid also mentioned that there were quite a few people hanging out at the beach. When it warms up, traffic happens in Grand Haven and I mean, it sucks!!! The most annoying thing is, I do not think many people know what a 4 way stop is. Who has the right of way on a two way! Nobody knows! Maybe turn signals would be a good thing if you used them A gal with a cell phone stuck to her face about nailed me today while not stopping at a stop sign. They do make hands free stuff... Get one lady!!! Now I'll probably complain about summer!
