Hello everybody! We have a small pond here in Texas that has given us so much pleasure! It is about an acre or so. The pond was put in back in the late 70's and stocked with bluegill and bass then left to fend for itself until we moved out to the property in 2006. The fish population was still there but we introduced some new blood by enlisting help from Todd Overton at Overton Fisheries. We introduced some Coppernose Bluegill and some Florida Bass along with a load or two of silver feeder fish (I can't remember what they are called). I am not sure how they are doing since the drought took the level down to record lows and somehow we got a bunch of Lotus introduced. We have pretty much left the pond alone this summer. Due to rain recently it's still at a very low level. Then tonight I saw 3 huge otter out there playing in the rain!

I think I would try to persuade the otters to go elsewhere.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I'd use high velocity lead to pursuade them, but if that wasn't an option, I'd lay out the welcome mat with Conibear 330's.

Are there any fish left ? The otters will eat all of them over about 2 inches if there are any fish now. While they are beautiful creatures they are not welcome in our ponds/lakes.

We are going to use the high velocity lead way to convince them to leave. Haven't seen them today yet. We had some fish left, but now, who knows!
