i had a 6 acre pond built in 2008. it has good structure and is very deep. i built it for trophy bass. there is a 3 acre pond above this pond and a 5 acre pond below it. the new pond, however, is not holding water very well. as of right now today, the one above it is down a foot and the one below it is down the same amount, but the new one is down between 8-10 feet. i'm not gonna stock it until this situation is resolved. is this normal for a new pond?

Has it been losing water consistently since 2008? Sounds like it was not properly sealed during construction.

It sounds like a bottom leak with the one above catching most of the water. Then the middle one leaking to keep the lower one in good shape. Is this possible?
What kind of soils do you have?
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
