Hi, I'm new to this! We have a large pond with blue gill & bass. About this time of the year each year it gets this thick green mossy looking stuff all over it. Any suggestions on how to get rid of that stuff without hurting the fish. We also have muskrats & herons & turtles (big ones).
We bought this farm about 3 yrs ago and have cleaned up alot and would like for the pond to stay nice but the greenstuff is coming back.
We live in southern MD.

Do a search in the Aquatic Vegetation categories for "Filamentous Algae" (or "FA") - this is probably what you are asking about. There are many threads concerning FA and various means to control it - chemical controls, fish that eat it, mechanical methods to remove it.

Thank you, I will check on that. We have two ponds (one is about 3/4 acrea one is smaller).
Both of the ponds get that green scum or algae during the summer months and clear up in November.
I will keep researching this & thanks again for your info.
