I do have my elctrical service installed in the upper lfet hand corner opposite the dam. There is not a house on the property yet. The building in the picture is the neighbors horse barn. Actually I'm cutting the driveway in this weekend and next on the list will be to get the electric and water back closer to where we are going to build the cabin.

I have a question on aeration based on earlier posts. I get that moving water vertically allows oxigen to move into water from the atmosphere above the pond and then circulate based on the water moved by bubble, but what about oxigen in the bubbles themselves moving into the water? Is this really not a significant factor? How come this is different compared with an air stone in a fish tank? Is it that the size of the bubbles from pond aerators are much larger and have too little surface area?
There is oxygen transfer at the bubble, but the majority of oxygen is obsorbed at the surface. The smaller the bubble the higher the oxygen transfer rate and more water is influenced. This is the same concept as the airstone in a fish tank, just on a much larger scale.
Rah, iirc, actual oxygen absorption from the bubble rising is only around 5% of the O2 available in the bubble before it surfaces. Obviously, the smaller the bubble and the length of travel will make a big difference in that percentage...clouds of micro bubbles in the 1-2 micron size will rise very slowly and can approach 100% absorption where as an airstone like those used in aquariums, even the "very good" ones will produse a "course" larger bubble and even 1%absorption would be pretty good.
Atmospheric air contains mostly nitrogen and unless pure oxygen is being diffused with a diffuser DESIGNED for oxygen, the amount of qxygen being absorbed directly from the bubble is virtually meaningless to the change in how saturated water becomes with oxygen.
