I have a new pond and took a ph reading which was 8.6. My dad`s pond is 7.5 and a friends pond was 9. Are these levels ok? I am trying the fertilizer from southern excellence advertised in Pond Boss.

I have never paid that much attention to the PH reading when fertilizing. My meter always says its ok. It also varies by the time of day. The bigger question on fertilization is alkilinity. If its not at least 20 ppm, the fertilizer won't work. If its less than 20 ppm, you need to add agricultural lime.
