Unfortunately all the ones that are left are about 3 sizes too small. But, if you wear them, you'll fit right in! grin

Ok, go ahead and get them.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Oh come on! That looks nothing like me!!!

Too much hair and I don't wear glasses.

This is a much more accurate depiction.

Egad! For newcomers, please excuse my friends. We are a very friendly and open group, who welcome everyone (just read some of the posts in this thread, and think about those of us who have endured as long-time contributors).

We love diversity -- as long as you like fish. We love the crazies of the world -- even if you love green sunfish. We have active members from Southeast Asia to Scandinavia, going east to west, or west to east.

Heck, I can't think of anybody we wouldn't welcome if you enjoy puppies, kittens, babies, fish, and ponds.

Hi.

I'm new here and want to understand the Acronyms, but the Acronym link in this post is broken. Is there another link or listing? Thanks much.

If you fill the pond from a creek be sure to filter the discharge water trough a filter sock at least 1mm mesh opening similar to window screen.

Kudos, Cheryll, for either persistence or use of the Search function in finding this thread.

JHAP,

While reading your post I opened about 10 tabs in my browser. Every time you brought up something, I checked it out. And guess what? The answer was right there on the next tab! I made my first "Welcome to The Forum" post today just a couple hours ago. Your post has helped me out tremendously already. So many questions that I couldn't find answers to on the forum......no more! This question was regarding vendors to consult me in the proper piece of property, design and construction. Thank you very much for helping the new members in the appropriate directions.

Not a new member but have a question. How do I add a link on a post? Also add a link on your signature line?

The people who say I can't do it can just sit the @^#% down and watch me. Friends call me Rusto I also subscribe to pond boss mag. http://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=504716#Post504716

Use the "Full Reply Screen", hit the (second from the left) little button that looks like a sphere with a chain link below it. You should be able to figure it out from there.

FYI, JHAP hasn't been around for some time, but I'll forward him the word that he's still appreciated.

I joined a year ago and I came across a blog post I can't locate now: about the effects of groundwater on pond water levels. I'm in Kansas and our pond water level is about two and a half to three feet low. We have been in drought since summer, but it seems really low. I've walked the dam numerous times for signs of seepage, nothing. We hit groundwater when digging the pond, can a lower groundwater table essentially "suck" water out of a pond? Its the only thing I can think of.....thanks!

Oh, yeah - if your pond isn't isolated from the ground water level, it will fluctuate with it. The ground water giveth, and the ground water taketh away.

Well, I suspected as much. Any way to “isolate” my pond from the ground water? Maybe with that bentonite or floc seal stuff one can spread?

What works best will depend upon the specific circumstances of your pond.

If you read some of the "how to stop a leaking pond" threads, you should be able to determine which potential fix is the best application for your pond.

Good luck!
