I received a phone call from a fish farmer/friend of mine in Arkansas yesterday. He said there are warrants for the arrest of Rex Alan Curtis. He also told me someone from law enforcement had said Curtis' business was being advertised in Pond Boss under Curtis' daughter's name, Michelle "Shelly" Sirmon. There are no ads, and after a search of the magazine and website, all I find are some threads discussing his (their) lack of ethics, and dishonest actions. If anyone knows the whereabout of Rex Alan Curtis, please notify the authorities or drop me a pm. The justice system wants to visit with him. He goes by several aliases. He's also had numerous business names.

It is amazing that this guy is still out there taking peoples money on a bogus "Free Fish" deal. I've known about him for at least 8 years and amazingly he still pops up with deceptive ads, inferior fish, broken promises, etc.

It is amazing that this guy is still out there taking peoples money on a bogus "Free Fish" deal. Having been in criminal investigations for almost 20 years, I can say that these types of scams can go on for years, sometimes never being prosecuted. Each individual transaction/scam/etc. may seem civil in nature if it is even reported to law enforcement. Only if a "pattern" can be established, can criminal intent be established at the onset of the transaction. With so many different jurisdictions being involved, its difficult to find documented scams. It sounds like someone has done their homework if a criminal charges are pending against this guy, but his arrest is only the start of the ride.

I don't know where the guy is, but with our own Rex's periodic hard luck issues while on the road, I'd strongly suggest that the Rainman take a couple of weeks off of work until those warrants are returned on the right Rex!

I am curious what they were able to get warrants on him for...

Just guessing a theft case(s) were presented to a Grand Jury and they found that there was enough evidence to go to trial so they issued a warrant.... just a guess on my part though....

I didn't hear what state he was charged in... Let's hope they have wide ranging extradition, cause most jurisdictions won't extradite from very far away for non violent crimes, even felonies. Would be interested to hear what the exact charges were though.

He's been in trouble with the law for years.

I took your advice Todd. I'm on Vacation in NYC with the wife at the Westin-Times Square.

Travis, I agree!!! AWESOME hotel! On 8th Av with entrances on 42nd and 43rd Streets...My feet are killing me from all the private walking tours we got...especially the 3 hour walking tour given by a 20 yr NYC Lawyer for just me and Cathy through the real little Italy and China Town...We got to see places most locals never know about. Yesterday we watched Clinton and many celebs arrive for the "official" opening of Spiderman at the Foxwood Theater from our hotel window...The rest of the vacation was pretty typical tourist stuff. I have to say NYC is really cleaned up now in the more tourist interest areas...I thought I would hate the Big Apple, but I found myself wanting a few more days to take in much more of Manhattan.

Rex -- I hope you are driving something other than your fish truck. Last time I had to spend a few days in NYC I found that parking was a an absolute nightmare, including in the hotel basement. I have a small pickup truck, and it didn't fit in the spaces designed for really tiny cars.
Anyway, glad to hear the two of you are having a great time.

I spent a few days there in 2008 and did a walking tour as well. In one day we started from the hotel we hit the World Trade Center Rebuilding, Wall Street, and worked our way to the jet boat shuttles for the Statue of Liberty. Needless to say, it was a taxi for the trip back to the hotel.
I'd like to spend a few more days there, then check it off the list for good.

I just got an email from a Pond Boss reader with an attachment showing the public record restraining order for Rex Alan Curtis and his deceptive trade practices. Tried to copy and paste the pdf to this, but can't do it. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of this criminal, please drop me a pm and I'll forward it on to the authorities. They really do want an audience with the man and assist with an address change.

They should throw the book at him and preferably something heavy like War and Peace or Les Miserables.

I just ended a James Clavell "The Asian Saga" reading streak (King Rat, Tai-Pan, Shogun, Noble House) most any of his collection would do as well. Sooner or later I'll get to Whirlwind and Gai-Jin. All I can say is I'm thankful I have an e-reader - I'd hate to have to lug around Shogun.
