The majority of fish I catch is between 2.5 and 5lbs. I very seldom catch anything less than 2lbs.
I caught 10 fish Wednesday the smallest weighing 1lb 10 oz. and the largest weighing 3.9 lbs. Eight of the fish weighed between 2lb 8oz and 3lb 4oz.

Is it possible that there is a 10lb bass in this pond.

Last week I caught 4 fish with the largest being 4lb 8oz and the smallest weighing 3lb 11 oz.

Over the past 2 years, fishing from January to July, I caught over a dozen in the 4lb range and 4 weighing 5lbs, the largest being 5lb 12 oz.

Welcome to Pond Boss!

With the little bit of detail you've put forth, I might guess you have a handful of much larger fish.

What do your population of bluegill look like, as well as other fish?

Oh, and how old is the pond?

20 year old pond. Havent fished for blue gill.

I know there are some catfish and plenty of shiners. Havent caught any cats this year. I caught 4 last year while bass fishing. I was standing on the bank a couple of weeks ago and the shiners were traveling in large groups, they would turn on there side and flicker, pretty fair sized, thinking they are gizzard shad. At night the bass are attacking shad and you can see them(Shad) skipping on top the water.
The lake stays at constant full pool, with overflow running into the pond(4 acres) across the road.

Well, you might have arrived at a situation where you now have either some kind of natural balance between predators and prey, or a potential stuning of bass size albeit a larger size of LMB.

Getting a good sampling of what all makes up your forage base will help paint the picture.

If you've got an abundant population of bluegill in all sizes, then, you might be OK.

Thanks smile I have seen and retrieved a few blue gill, that have either, gotten too close too the dam when its shedding water, or flopped over the side while being chased, and were too heavy for the water to run them through the culvert. They seemed to be average size.

I have walked along the bank to see if any BG were bedding, but latley its been too muddy with about a 3-4 inch visibility at best. I say muddy, but more like cloudy. That leads me to believe there may be Carp bedding. confused

In the past couple of years I have caught maybe 6 bass that were 10in or less.

Yes I have noticed small BG, when the water was clearer.
