We just purchased land that has a 3 acre pond on it. The pond has been there for 20 years. It has BMB, catfish and crappie in it. The water is very dark and does not clear in summer. The pond is surrounded by pine and oak trees.
I need to find someone in or around Richmond VA to help assess the condition of the pond and how to restore it to good condition.
Does anyone know of such a resource in this area?

Try the Virginia Lake Management Company in Va Beach @ 757 -591-8780. They have 3 locations and may be able to help, If you strike out there let me know and Ill give you a plan B. Ted

vachatterus,
From your description the dark water may very well be tannin stains..which are completely harmless in most situations.
