Water Fountain
Do you know much about pond aeration?
Oxygen is beneficial to pond water quality.
Your pond is shallow, and so the shallow water can get very warm.
One way to add oxygen is with an air diffuser placed
at the DEEPEST spot in your pond -- 8 to 10 ft.

Your water fountain may not be bringing up
the 8 to 10 ft. deep warter from the bottom of your pond.
Thus, that water has no oxygen

Pond Aeration
I am convinced that pond aeration with air from the deepest
spot in your pond could greatly improve the water quality
of your pond.

Please read this ariticle on Pond Aeration.
You may get some good ideas from it.

The retention pond in our neighborhood has "moss" around the edge of it.
The pond is a dug pond that receives the water flow
from the streets in the neighborhood.

It is about 8-10 deep at it's deepest point,
but most of it is around 2 feet deep.

I would guess that it is about an acre and a half in area.

Would the grass carp be a viable solution
to getting rid of the moss?

The pond has some fish,
but not actually stocked and

it is aerated with a fountain.

Thanks for the information,
