All, Alan Warren Outdoors is featuring King Fisher Society on the Pursuit Channel. That Channel was just added to Dish Network two days ago on channel 240 HUNT. It was already on Direct TV, 608 HUNT. Alan Warren comes on at 8:30 central time this morning and then the same show is on again Saturday morning...I think it shows 8 times each week. It started Monday. Go to www.alanwarrenoutdoors.com

Watching the show. Alan is wearing an SDSU Wildlife & Fisheries hat. Our buddy, T.J.Stallings, with TTI Blakemore, is getting lots of air time. His company makes TruTurn Hooks and RoadRunner lures. Bruce Condello is down to business, catching fish after fish. Dave Willis and I double-team a nice bass and I let it break off. Lots of your friends. AaronM from Arizona, outdoor writer Jim Gronaw from Maryland...many others

I can remember watching a show he did about 15 or so years ago. He was sponsored by Strike King at that time. He got permission to fish a small farm pond that had "yeller cats" in it. He durn 'near sunk the small jon boat he was in with all the cats that he caught, and they were pulling him around the pond. The guy that owned the pond was tickled when Alan gave him the fish.

You can watch it from his web site. Sent him an email and here is the reply. You guys should take a look and drop him a line. I got a reply in less than a day.
"Will do Eric. Thanks for your email. Glad you like the show (and those SDSU caps)!"

I have Direct TV. I searched 'Warren' since I wasn't familiar with the channel. I found it easily and recorded it. Nice show. Focused a little more on LMB than I thought they would. My channel was 608.

What was that fish that the guy fishing with Bruce caught? A "flier" or something? Looked like a cross between a crappy and a bluegill. I'd never heard of it.
(My sincerest apologies if "the guy" is some well known poster on this board.)

They hybridize with crappie? That must get really confusing.

Almost all centrarchid fish can cross. The flier (Centrarchus macropterus) is a sunfish (family Centrarchidae) native to muddy-bottomed swamps, ponds, weedy lakes, and riverine backwaters across the American South, from southern Illinois east to the Potomac River basin and south to Texas. The flier, which can live up to five years, grows to a maximum recorded length of about 30 cm (one foot). The maximum recorded weight of the species is just over one-half kilogram (about 19 oz). Fliers are occasionally kept in aquaria by North American native-fish fanciers. C. macropterus is currently the only species of genus Centrarchus Cuvier, 1829, but Lacépède had originally assigned it to Labrus (now confined to some marine wrasses). The generic name, Centrarchus, derives from the Greek (centre, in this sense "sting") and (ruler), in reference, presumably, to the sharp spines on the anal fin. Centrarchus being the type genus of family Centrarchidae, it gives its name to the whole sunfish family. The specific name, macropterus, derives from Greek (long fin). Scientific classification Kingdom :Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Actinopterygii Order: Perciformes Family: Centrarchidae Genus: Centrarchus Species:C. macropterus Binomial name : Centrarchus macropterus
