I watched a grader on the news this morning scraping the ice off the parking lot so the Packer's busses could get to a press event. Looked like he was making giant snowcones shaving the ice down.

Why would you want to sit outside in the cold for entertainment anyway? My idea of entertainment would be to sit in a heated ice shanty watching it on TV catching fish at the same time! That is awesome!

Lots of business have stocked up for the game, especially those carrying tourist type stuff. Dining and entertainment businesses in Fort Worth have (or had) big expectations for SB week. Today, the early arriving tourists should be shopping. However, road are still iced up and not much air traffic getting in. Local traffic is nil.
I may watch it on TV but have zero interest in attending the game.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Cowboys Stadium is a domed stadium with a retractable roof in Arlington, Texas. They will not be outside in the cold. It may be a cold hike to the game. Might be hard to dress for a 3 mile hike to the game and then sit inside at 70F for several hours then hike back. I am sure for a few dollars more Jerry will let folks stay overnight and eat from the concessions.

The word I get from my cheesehead relatives is that the GB line will be practicing in Lynx boots, the tight ends will be outfitted with hockey skates, and and the backfield will be practicing in high-end, high-performance, running snowshoes.

D/FW is again shut down by conditions that you guys would consider a minor weather event. Freeways between Dallas and Fort Worth are impassable.
Bridges, intersections and overpasses have been sanded but that doesn't help much. Stalled 18 wheelers and cars are littering the roadways. This happens about once a year so plans for what you guys deal with just don't exist.
I recently acquired a 1997 Ford F150 with only 35,000 original miles. Clean as a pin with new tires and a nice camper cover. The tires are city boy type tires. So, yesterday I absolutely had to go the the store for chili fixins. The only vehicle that I could get the frozen doors open on was the F150. I knew better than to try to make it anywhere in that thing but..... BTW, I have a couple of Toyota 4 runners with 4WD and all weather tires but I couldn't get into them. Well, I really could have but didn't bother. So, I went and got the stuff that I needed. On the way home I was going very slowly up a very slight incline when it started going sideways in the road. I finally backed up and got it over to the curb but it was done. Actually, I got out and slid it to the curb. Fortunately there was almost no traffic (a shortage of idiots like me). A guy in an old 4runner with 4wd came and towed me to the intersection where there was enough sand to get me started again. When I got home, I decided to go ahead and get the doors open on the 95 go anywhere 4runner. Hope I don't have to use it.
You know, I deserved to get stuck for pulling that dumb stunt.

You know, I deserved to get stuck for pulling that dumb stunt. Hey, at least you didn't damage anything and you didn't lose your chili. This time of year we have a get together nearly every Saturday night where we all bring some food and then we attempt to do some country dancing after we gorge ourselves. Well, a few years ago I agreed to bring several gallons of chili. Lynda left ahead of me in her car. I put one big pot of chili on the passenger-side floormat and one big pot of chili on the passenger seat. Part of my driveway that faces north is very steep. We got a little snow earlier in the evening. It was about 10 degrees. Like Dave, I was headed slowly up the slippery hill. I hadn't put the truck in 4WD. I got near the top and the truck quit moving and then started slipping backward down the hill. It came to a very sudden stop near the bottom when it went into the ditch. All of a sudden I had about 5 or 6 gallons of chili all over the passenger side of the truck. I delivered what little chili was left in the pots and went back home where I took the pressure washer to the inside of the truck. The truck never quite smelled right after that night.

Ken, I think it's that time of year again. Where's that pic of you plowing out your drive thru the deep snow of a year or so ago?

After chiseling 1-2" ice off our drive today, my wife decided to park in the street to pick up her things for 3 more nights at a hotel close to work. Ice this thick sucks, next time I would rather have snow. Even the mail carier in a Subaru 4wd wagon was having issues just getting down the street.

I was going to pick up the wife today and slapped mirrors with a guy driving a van. Mine folded up like it should...his exploded. I stopped, so did he. I guess he wanted to make an issue of it till he realized he had driven 5 feet over into my lane and decided he didn't want to call a cop for the report....The roads had been cleared of snow, he had passed cars parked on his side of the road and I can assume he didn't think he need to wait or get back over on his side of the road.

Scott, Are you referring to the snows that made my front porch look like this? or made my roof and chimney look like this? or my decorated mailbox? or the county road we live on after is was "cleared"? or my driveway? With all of the snow and cold, at least we had some fun, All I can say is, enjoy the bad weather when you can. It doesn't happen all that often. Happy snow, Ken

It was the driveway one that I remembered. The wind was going just the right speed and direction last night. I have a big overhanging drift off of the roof, but the rest of the roof is clear of snow. It was dark when I got in from moving snow today, pics tomorrow.
