I have fed AM500 since my fish were 3-4". Now that they are 8-9", I am wondering if I should switch to the slightly larger AM600. It seems to me that the HBG would expend less energy, and get full faster, by consuming a bigger piece of food. However, the difference seems so miniscule that I'm not sure if it would even be noticeable, as in faster weight gain and growth. I thought the larger pellets might "throw" better, since I feed by hand. But- my fish seem very tempermental,(downright moody), and don't respond well to anything that disrupts their normal routine. They are eating well, and I would hate to have to re-acclimate them all over again. Any thoughts?

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1) And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1) Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT? PB answer: It depends.

I have been trying to figure out what I need to feed as well and have considered going from GFC to AM 600 as that is what they can get here.
So the experts will be along soon to help you out.
I do however want to know how long it took your fish to get from 3-4" to 8-9"?
Are the all HBG or do you have any other fish you are feeding?

I stocked the 3-4" fish in late March of 2009. By Oct. of '09', I was catching a few 8" fish. Now, I can catch 8-9" regularly, with an occasional 10" thrown in. My goal was to catch a 1 pound fish by the end of this October. I'm soooo close..... And yes, I am only feeding HBG.

What size is your pond, how many HBG did you stock, and what other fish are present?

I dunno how much longer they'll be feeding (water temps are starting to cool down).
If you are running low on 500 and will need to buy some before they stop feeding, I'd get a bag of 600 and mix the two together, increasing the amount of 600 vs. 500 daily.
I'm sending you a pm.
