where could I get some copper nose BG sent to me via shipping. Also who else would ship me some yellow perch incase Zetts goes out of business. Just curious. Also Id like to know where I would be able to get Rock & Kentucky Bass. Several Ponds here wanting to stock some new types of fish in them. Oh and I know Zetts doesn't sale Copper Nose

There are a good number of places that will ship you CNBG or YP. The price you'd pay in shipping costs is OUCH! Depending on the number of fish you need, it may be better to contract out delivery via a fish hauler like Rainman.

I don't know of any places anywhere close to Kentucky that sell rock bass. If by Kentucky bass you're referring to spotted bass, they too are hard to find a source for.

I could be wrong but I don't think yellow perch are allowed in Kentucky. You may want to check.

Will CNBG survive the winter in Kentucky? I've heard of them dying as far south as Arkansas during an unseasonably cold winter. At least that is what I was told by a biologist that works for Malone and Sons.

It is not just a question of survival. You want fish that will reach their potential. IMO CNBG will not reach their potential in KY even if they manage to survive for a few years.

In your area they will most likely die. They might make it a few years in extreme SW KY but still might not grow well. For example I had a few CNBG die last winter when our ponds in MS iced over for a couple days.

Your best bet is regular BG. There are several AR hatcheries who have CNBG and at least those are more acclimated to cool water than ones from further south.

So since I am in NE Oklahoma do you think I should stay away from the CNBG as well?

I had considered some YP and WE as well but think it may get to warm for them, so what are you thoughts on that?

Are you at elevation ? It is a close call. At the very least I would hedge the risk.

Sorry not sure of elevation, the ponds are in Nowata Oklahoma.

I was thinking if I can find CNBG I could stock them with BG and have them both just in case I had a large die off from the CNBG.

What about Pumpkinseed would they do well in Oklahoma?

Well what about redbreast Sun fish...how good do you think they will do and how big do regular Bluegill get ? I sure don't want to waste my money on stuff thats going to die. I have heard that Zetts may go out of business from others in the forum by reading old post thats where I got that info. from

Regular BG in your KY location will get bigger (do better than CNBG). With good mgt you can easily grow BG to over a pound. Some here get them to 2 lbs.

In NE OK a mix may do fine. I would be more prone to use a high % of BG.

Redbreast sunfish will do fine in KY.

Do you happen to know how well people do here in Oklahoma as far as growing there BG and RES out?

I have not seen to many fellow OKIES on here.

MRHELLO, how well the fish do is more than anything a factor of how well you manage them! I know you know that by now! There's been a lot of great advice offered to you over the past many months, and someone at one point not too long ago challenged you to sift through that info and make a decision on what combo of fish you want in your ponds. Figure it out and post it for feedback. It's tough to engage in ongoing speculation or to answer your questions sometimes because you don't seem to have any direction. No one but you can sit down and actually make a decision about which fish you want to manage. So just do it, considering the goals you have for fish (we know you want to be able to fish with your kids, grow fish of a sufficient size to harvest for eating somewhat regularly, and have something that will do well in your different settings) and the budget you can allocate to the effort. Once you make a choice, ask for advice on what people think about the choice, get the advice, and then follow it. I guarantee anything that you end up doing with help from this group is going to be far better than what you've got right now! Get off the fence, my friend, and choose!

Yellow Perch are illegal in Kentucky if their gotten out of any of the great lake states otherwise their perfectly legal in Kentucky... According to Mel Taylor and a few other fish biologist in the area. I just wish Mel lived closer or brought his fish truck over this way He has alot of fish that I would be interested in. Including Muskie and Northern Pike along with the yellow perch

I was at Zett's today picking up an order og BG, FHM and crayfish. They were very busy with people fishing in all the ponds. The place looked healthy and vibrant. No sense of of anything wrong at all.
