How come I'm no longer a "lunker"? What have I done to deserve this? Is someone coming to rip off my epaulets and break my sword in half? Will this affect my Pond Boss pension and benefits package?

I have been de-lunkered also Bullhead. I think our benefits and pensions are safe though.

Didn't you guys know? From now on you have to pay for your ranking. The donate tab is at the top of the page. grin

Just kidding of course.

Bhead/all;

Note about the stars: Pond Boss wanted to recognize those who donated to help defray the costs of providing a free forum for all these years, and it was decided that stars would serve that function. We had a few donors we couldn't match to forum screen names - yours was one of them. I'll be sure to communicate the changes right away and apologize for the oversight - we were getting to it.

Secondly, we do have plans to create an avatar for magazine subscribers, however, don't have our forum list and magazine subscriber list merged at this point. That's an ongoing process but plans are in the works to try and match subscribers to their forum identities. We need a common field of information, like physical address, in order to do so. We plan on emailing forum members for this information so we can match them to their subscriber info in order to create a master subscriber list, and assign avatars accordingly.

On the lunker front - considering anyone past 10 posts made the transformation from fingerling to lunker, the term seemed to lose it's significance. It was decided to scrap the ID as it was superfluous. Plans are to ID subscribers, donors, ambassadors, field correspondents and moderators.

Appreciate your patience and I apologize for the confusion. Should have probably made an announcement prior to any changes being implemented - I take responsibility for that. I'm a volunteer and doing the best I can with the time afforded to me. Understand our primary goal is to try and improve the forum and add services and products members find fun and useful. Your collective feedback guides the way, and I'm thankful you guys take the time to give a holler.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do from this end. And, if you're a donor and happen to have slipped through the cracks, please give me a shout so we can address ASAP.

Thanks TJ. You are doing a great service. This will take some time to finish. So far we have avoided all the major problems like losing past info.

Coach - I'm sorry. This was on my watch, I take full responsibility. I will make the necessary adjustments.

Hey TJ -
Thanks for all the hard work. Much appreciated!

By the way, can you explain the different titles a bit more? As in, what is required for being titled an ambassador or field correspondent and so forth?

I think "foreign specie" would be a suitable rank for some of us,
or maybe invasive ?

I don't think "invasive" fits, not even a "foreign species". Pondmeisters are Pondmeisters all around the world!

I am disapointed that you changed thr fingerling lunker classification. It was very helpful to newer
members. We could tell who the people were who have been involved a long time. experience matters when you are looking for answers to solve a problem. I'ts not a pride thing to me. This is not the UN. Maybe I just didn't understand the original ranking system. Just my thoughts.

Dantheman, you can look at the "registered" date and post count but that doesn't necessarily make someone an expert.

It could just be a forum member that has been around a few years and that doesn't really bring an high level of knowledge to the forum and...

... OH SNAP!!!

I talked to TJ about using the "stars" to indicate level of knowledge and experience as it pertains to pond management.

His response was "JHAP the forum software doesn't allow the use of negative stars however I might be able to substitute a photo of a black hole to categorize someone such as yourself."

I withdrew my request.

I think trying to access someones knowledge of ponds and fish then assigning them the correct number of stars would start a war of words worse than talking about politics. grin

In my case opinions are free, and you get what you pay for. whistle
