First fishing trip of the year – beautiful day started out 30.0 degrees and warmed to 55 at noon. Near surface water temp 47 degrees – slow fishing this morning but bet they turned on this afternoon. Will be on the ponds every nice day for next couple of weeks or so.

My fishing partner out-fished me today. One 4+# HSB landed – one long distant release – one mojo HSB broke off – ZERO HSB for me ...

Few CNBG to ten inches and pale - cold deep water.

That's one huge bluegill/CNBG!

Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:"
"She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

It's good to see you and the lady are getting out. George, what type of forage is in the pond, and what's your feeding regiment? (in regards to the HSB growth.)

Scott, only forage is CNBG and AQMX 500/600 at about 5 lbs/day currently.
Will increase when water warms.

George and Nate - very nice fish. Excellent condition coming out of winter.

George you know by now that if Mrs. G is picking the colors she will out fish you every time.

Next week I will be getting a good look at your grandbaby OTS CNBG.

All of the lakes around here have 16" - 20" of ice on them right now.

The big thaw has just begun.

Great fish, y'all! Thanks for the photos!

Well, it had to happen sooner or later...after all these times...I finally caught a bass today!

It was only about 12" long but it was a porker - that belly was nice to see 'cause it tells me that my fish still have something to eat.

Water temp was around 50 degrees and this weekend is supposed to have beautiful weather. I'm breaking out of my "skunk-funk"! ;\)

If you're too scared to throw that bait where the fish are, why did you tie it on?

Yes, the weather here in the east is supposed to be great. High pushing 60 by Sunday here in northern VA. I bet GA will be seeing the 70's!

Justin and I set up a 6000 gallon fishing pond at the Elmwood All Outdoors Show and the kids had an absolute blast fishing in it! We had over 300 kids catch fish in 7 hours yesterday and we let them take the bass and trout home for dinner if they wanted to. About 75 kids did!!! Here are some pics:

This one went right inside the show straight to the taxidermist!

These girls had the thrill of their lives:

These kids ate good last night:

Many newspapers and newstations were out filming and snapping pics and literally thousands of grandparents and parents were fascinated with all the big fish in the tank too! It was one of the best days ever.
