Just wanted to say hello. I've been reading some threads for a few weeks and decided to register. Looks like alot of good information. Never get tierd of seeing the photos of lakes being built. I grew up with a pond on the family farm, and we renovated it a few years back. We are now thinging of digging a new technical pond for dog training on the same property and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions along the way.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting and jumping in... I don't know squat about pond building, but there are a pile of members on here who do!

I'll see if I can dig up some pics of the last pond renovation. I can't claim any of the sucess, was all my dad and brother's hard work. The new project I'm thinking of is just a small project, total area is something like 160 ft by 60 feet, with lots complexity for training dogs..... It is all excavation though, so leaving dirt for points and islands is probably a good thing.
One question I have, is there a standard for the steepest you can go for inside banks of an excavated pond? I have seen reccomendations for outside slopes of dams and such, but is there a limit for inside that might limit erosion or something?
Otto, you mention some articles about ponds built for dog training, can you point me to where to find those? Did a forum search and didn't come up with much, just making sure I'm looking in the right areas.
