We just bought a 3/4 acre pond that has been stocked with bass and bluegill for over 6 years. I'm unsure if the population is balanced or not but the previous owner said he saw an 18" bass. My first evalution of this newly aquired pond is that the bluegill population might be a lil' on the light end. Can I start up a feeding program for them and will they take to it? if the population is small, can i add some more bgills? what would be better coppernose or hybrids? will they get along with the natives? thanks in advanced

The best way to up bluegill percentages is to down bass percentages. Too many bass eat all the bluegill. Remove some bass and your bluegill will multiply. First check you bass to see if they look a bit skinny, big heads and little bodies. If so, you definately need to remove some.
If you just toss in more bluegill, with too many bass, you are just providing the bass with an expensive snack.
