Is there any truth to what I have heard several times that if you store your minnows in a white container/minnow bucket for the winter that they will turn white to match the background of the container? If that is true, I should be able to color the interior of my cooler container fluorescent red and get red minnows. I always thought they just lost color from stress.

Good morning Dave, I've checked the ships systems, and everything appears to be running normally.

Yup, they'll bleach out to try and match their background. I wonder what concentrated red food coloring in the water would do to them if they were in there for a long period of time?

How do they color spikes red??

It doesn't take a winter for them to change color mere minutes... When you cast that minnow into your pond, it'll change color again to blend into its new surroundings.

Has anyone tried this product to color minnows?

No, but it sure looks interesting... I wonder if it works any better than food coloring would work though?

Dyed and doped up minnows. What's next?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

How would food coloring make a difference, unless your bait was dead??? Just a question.

I like ice fishing with golden shinners, so I am going to try the gold. I'll let you know.

It looks like for $13.00 incl S&H, you can get all 3 colors.

Looks like that, but it is for one color. The guy said blue is their most popular color.

Get some YUM crawfish scented spray. It's bright red in color.

Just make sure you are spraying downwind.

I guess that's what the * means on the order form then?

Usually an asterisk used this way points you to a footnote, I never figured it out. Their webpage looks pretty simple, perhaps it is a fledgling company that doesn't have things all the way together yet???

Got the gold minnow dye, but I have not been able to try it due to all the snow. Sounds like I may get out next week on Bremer Pond to give it a try. Comes in two parts that have to be mixed before use. Very interesting

Tried the Gold Minnow Dye today. It did not change the color of the minnow to gold as advertised. Instructions advised to mix part A and part B at a 1:1 ratio in a cup. It is supposed to foam, and when it is settled ready to go. There was no foaming action. My Sgt wondered if it was to cold to activate. We used it in one ice fishing hole only, and noted that even though it did not color the minnow, the action in that hole seemed to increase as oppsed to the other 5 holes in the house. I am going to contact the seller, and find out why it did not work as advertised. Even though the scent may be positive. We smelled both parts in their repective containers before mixing, and could not detect any particular odor from either bottle. This stuff is supposed to dye the bait, make the minnow more active, and have a fish catching scent. One out three ain't good enough
