That is a real neat idea, Heybud. The same thing could be used for an outdoor firepit, right? What is the corrugated metal ring from? An adaptation of another product?

That looks great! Please Fedex over night a gallon of your "Heybud Roadkill Chili" after that cooking pot has aged a bit.

They had those rings at Tractor Supply as fire pit rings. They were originally about 45 or 50 bucks and then they went on sale for 15 bucks so we loaded up and use them for various purposes. Here is the maiden voyage fire. My little buddy is drinking out of the fountain.

OK, as long as it still tastes like chicken when it comes out...

Very cool Heybud, I like the looks of that. (The fire ring not the chicken).

Heybud, That looks great, Fire, Water and Chicken...hmmm as a cook that sounds like a great receipie for Chicken Noodle Soup. Just kidding, I know you can't cook your friend, that would just be fowl. I was at a municipality meeting with the Lake Manager last week and over in the parking lot where the police park was this grill. I would love to have this thing! I am on my way to Tractor Supply to see if I can get one of those rings. I hope you don't mind me using your idea but it looks so good that I want to make that my weekend project this weekend.

Cary, I love that pit. Talk about somking gun! The Tractor Supply closest to me quit handling them. Possibly could order one. I want some more my self. I have some great ideas for some add ons to the one I built. I have a welder friend and if I can get him to build some of them, I will post pictures. Good luck with your project and give us pictures when you can.

Will do! I think the smoke actually comes out the barrel, at least that was what the police cheif told me. It tows backwards, could you imagine driving down the highway staring down the barrel of that gun?

Burnt galvanizing is pretty bad stuff. I wonder if you painted the rings with stove paint if it would keep the zinc from burning off?

you can line it with rock or fire brick. I don't think the inside of the ring gets that hot unless you build a really big fire in it.

Those rings work great. we use them in Wisconsin all the time! what did you cut the rocks with to get them positioned around the ring?
