Is he going to get it mounted? That is amazing a rainbow trout whacking a BG that size. That is really cool... Was this trout caught in that real deep lake you guys manage or another one? I think you will be really pleased with the brown trout when you stock them. They will impress you with their aggressiveness towards minnow like baits.

Mid-October and I will be heading up north for a load of browns! We arent getting that rainbow mounted, but plan on starting to get the best fish of each species caught from the lake to date mounted next year.

I really enjoy seeing all these pictures of some beautiful fish. I wish I could grow trout. Had some friends over to fish and have a fish fry today. Had a hard time catching HBG under a pound for eating. I'm trying to let all fish gp of they are over one pound. Here is a pic of the largest we caught today at 1lb 8-5/8 oz. I got this shot while on the scale for proof. The tray the fish laying in is 10 inches long and 6 inches wide.

Is this some kind of tilapia? I caught it on a worm in a lake in SW Florida.

Spot on, thats a cool article. I can verify that they are agressive and fight very well for the size! I wonder what else are hiding in these lakes. I caught a 3 foot gar the other day

Great call Jeff. Tilapia's are all part of the family Cichlidae.
Imagine fighting one in 8-10 pound range!!!

I caught a 3 foot gar the other day We caught spotted tilapia, peacock bass (my favorite), flatheads, black bass, and a walking catfish from a small lake in Ft. Lauderdale last October. And we saw something that resembled a plecostomaus (sp?) except it had to have been 3+ feet long. Didn't even know what to throw at it so we left it alone.

And not only aquatics either. The pythons/boas, chimps, etc. One of the residents on the lake we stayed at was with the Venom Unit in Florida and had some wild stories, almost all to do with non-native snakes.

I've read that pound for pound it's one of the best fighting fish out there. Of course, these things get absolutely HUGE in the Amazon. The ones I caught were much smaller obviously. Here's an Amazon Butterfly Peacock.

Really nice Josh...they look like they fried up nicely - how did they measure up on the table?

Really nice Josh...they look like they fried up nicely - how did they measure up on the table? Amazing. It was like sweet chicken, the best I can describe it. If you ever get the chance I certainly suggest it. I am jealous of our Floridian friends. These were caught in October when we had snow on the ground back home. Funny thing, I think that first pic is the first one I caught and that's me trying to figure out what the hell it was.

Sweet chicken...coincidently, if I'm not mistaken, that was JHAP's nickname playing Pee Wee football

I came down to visit my dad on the Chesapeake Bay this afternoon. We caught 6 bluefish this evening. We're gonna head out in the morning and give it a try again. We'll see if some Spanish mackerel or stripers wanna give us a run or two...

Got battered like heck! 4-5 foot seas with 25-30 winds... After 30 minutes of getting knocked all over we called it a morning! So we got skunked...

Better skunked than having to swim back to shore! Wise decision.
