Check out this link to an article detailing a recent incident on our fish farm: Manhunt ends with escapee in (fish) tank I am just about to leave for a short fishing vacation so won't be able to participate in this tread for a few days, but don't get any ideas because Clint Koch will be here at his post while I'm gone.
It's ALL about the fish!

He's lucky he didn't get the same treatment as that otter did when he got too comfortable at your place.....
Just do it...

Here's the article:
Manhunt ends with escapee in (fish) tank
by Vanessa Goodwyn A traffic stop on I-45 Friday morning escalated into a much more serious situation for a Beaumont man travelling through our county. The man chose to evade arrest and a three-hour manhunt followed. The suspect was ultimately apprehended by a Leon County resident.
DPS Trooper Rick Pringle stopped Fernando Zamora, age 26, at 7:30 a.m. for erratic driving on northbound I-45 at the 170 Mile Marker between Buffalo and Centerville. The man was determined to be under the influence and Trooper Pringle arrested him for DWI, handcuffed him and seat-belted him into the patrol car. The vehicle, a 1/2-ton Chevy pickup, was identified as a stolen vehicle out of Beaumont. While the officer was investigating the vehicle, the suspect worked his handcuffs around in front of his body and escaped from the patrol car. He ran across the southbound freeway and headed into the woods.
Backup was called for and Buffalo and Jewett police officers responded, as well as Leon County Sheriff's Department personnel. Jewett's Chief of Police Larry Whittington brought his canine partner, Lector, who caught a track early but lost it as the day grew hotter. TDC dogs and horses were called in and a search ensued in the area for several hours, then was moved farther south.
The suspect, apparently thinking "the coast was clear", came out of hiding and proceeded on foot across the Overton Fisheries property, on the service road just south of Smith’s Crossing. Owner Todd Overton explained, “I was in the office and through the window saw this guy by one of our trucks. I speak Spanish so I got to talking to him, distracted him and put him in a choke hold. We (Overton and employee Clint Koch) put him in a dry fishtank and held him at gunpoint until the cops showed up.” (Apparently the HANDCUFFS were a dead giveaway...)
In addition to Friday's charges, the suspect had two warrants out of Tarrant County.

My dad would be so proud, Todd. If there wasn't reason enough already...support Overton fisheries, folks! Free choke hold included. Gunpoint optional.

You would think someone in handcuffs might think twice before engaging in casual conversation. Sounds like a prime candidate for America's Dumbest Criminals or whatever the name of that show is.

Congratulations Todd and Clint
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Yeah, that's my new favorite move....the "Rear Naked Choke!"
Seriously though, the guy was drunk, dehydrated, tired, hot, and skrawny.....but I had no idea what he would do....he had already beat the odds....
This one could have gone very wrong, but I lucked out and spotted the guy. I think he was interested in one of our vehicles.
The police could not believe that we caught this guy, especially since several well-trained tracking dogs had failed.
Anyway it's another mark on the wall for us and we appreciate your comments as we relish this moment of fame. Ha! I wish only that I had a pic of this guy in the fish vat...priceless.
Tomorrow off to the TX coast for some bay fishing and flounder gigging.
It's ALL about the fish!

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

I spoke to Spunky (Overton) yesterday.
He said the police didn't believe him when he called in and told them that they had the guy in custody.
Maybe the poor slob thought he was going to get some free fish.

Now the TX taxpayers are paying his upkeep. I wonder if he would have been good catfish forage ? Well at least he is not out stealing fish trucks and disrupting one of Todd's customers.

I'll be sure to pay all invoices on time...thanks for chipping in for society, Todd.
Can we see your chokehold and tank stuffing recreated at the Conference? Any volunteers? I would, but I don't speak Spanish - so we'd be sacrificing some realism.
