OK,so I decide I get Sunday morning to myself and Im going fishing.A friend has a 2 acre pond thats going to be pushed in and filled because of highway constution about 20 miles from my place.Finish up chores Sat afternoon and get my gear ready.
Sunday,4:00 AM,get up,get coffee, load the truck.5:30...head out to thepond, gonna be BIG LMB on the stringer today.Get about a mile from the house and spill my coffee...in my lap.Its OK,it wasnt THAT hot,ill live with warm wet pants. The store is on the way,Ill get more and some gatorade while Im there.Get to the store, get my stuff and.....no money,no wallet,no keys,my pockets are empty.(Except for my little pliers,of coarse)So,its back to the house, load my pockets and Im off again.Get back to the store, pay for my stuff and Im good to go.6:30,Im still gonna get the big one.BLAM...flat tire. 7:15,Im on the way again, maybe the big one slept late today.Started fishing and caught a couple 1-2 lbers and put em on the stringer.Headed to the other side of the pond with a 5 gal bucket and on the first cast I get a whopper birds nest in my line.
How do fish know when your line is knotted up?So I catch this bass, about 4 lbs,by hand.I put him in the bucket, untangle my line and start fishing again.I get about 30 yards away and look just in time to see that dang fish jump out of the bucket, flop around and yep, back into the pond.Anyway,I fish till about 12:30,got half a dozen Bass, enough for supper,so I call it quits. Its too darned hot to fish anyway.Must have been 105 or so.
Its about 1:00 by the time I get loaded up and head out. Then I go 100 yards down the highway and all heck breaks loose under the hood.I stop, get out, look under hood.A/C compreesor locked up.In my truck on the way home, going 70,it was a HUNDRED AND TWENTY SEVEN degrees.I stopped halfway there and my bluejeans became shorts.
My wife was outside when I got home and naturally she came over to see what I caught. As she was looking in the cooler,I got out of the truck,my pants legs down around my angles where I cuts off with my pocket knife(which wasnt very effeceint as I was wearing em when I did this)and headed for the fridge for a desperatly needed cold beverage. When I came back(with said desperatly needed cold beverage)she looked me over, smiled one of those knowing smiles and said Nice fish, did you have fun this morning?Back to the fridge.
Still, all in all,I did get to go fishing, and I did catch supper.
Oh yea,and mr big bass did sleep late,he broke my line and kept a brand new lure.

That sir is what happens when you get on the wrong side of the GSA. Let this be a lesson to all GSF haters of the world. Not only do we have an extensive weapon collection at our disposal, we also have karma on our side.

Oh and Tom, you probably should expect a phone call from Sunil. The word on the street is that you're fired.

An alternative interpretation:

How can you expect to be successful if you're not using green sunfish for bait?

Tom, have you ever thought about changing your ways and trying for some clean living? You never can tell. It just might pay off.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
